I have a history of a bad left knee. A cast when I was 10 for a broken something or other, then as a football player the classic hit from the side messing up the MCL and ACL. The reason I say messing up is that my coach made me go to a chiropracter and it was never properly diagnosed. 4 scopes later one physician is considering replacing my MCL with one from a cadaveur.
In mid October I had a pain in my buttock of the same leg. It hurt when I went from sitting to standing. I didnt think much of it. The pain gradually increased. The pain is now EXCRUTIATING. I've been on percocet for months. I have about 12 pills a day and would probably take more if I didn't really try to control it. The sport I play is curling...yes it's ridiculous in the USA but it's Canada's #2 sport. I missed going to the Olympic Trials by one inch...so needless to say it's a big part of my life.
Hip and leg xrays came back negative. MRI came back with nothing conclusive except some indications of Piriformis syndrome but certainly inconclusive. I can't take the pain. I am going to lose my job. I love my job more than my sport. I can't function for a full day of work without 10 god damn pills because I can't sit down. I tried yesterday and I spent an hour lying on the ground in a locked bathroom. The pain is real. I'm not hooked on Percs. I haven't had any in 3 days now and I really don't crave them at all. I tried Celebrex just to try something new and obviously that hasnt done anything.
Is infection a possibility?
Oh, I've had about 6 concussions too from football and have rolandic seizure disorder which is fully under control with the Tegretol.
A back xray was also done because the pain kinda follows the sciatic nerve route but everything's perfect.
I've even tried a week on Valium so I just completely stay off it and just sleep and nothing has helped.
Off to work so I can go lie in the washroom there.
