I have a 9 yr old son that has been having an issue with blood in his urine with no apparent reason. The blood seems to come and go but is visible. He has not had an injury or any other things that would be a "tall-tell" sign for a cause. We noticed it and started to have him looked at on Jan 9th, there was blood there. He states that it happened a few months prior but he didn't say anything. On Jan 18th he went in for a followup and there was no blood in his urine when the doctors did a Urine test. Then on Jan 21st the blood was back. They have tested him for everything from UTI to cancer. We were refered to a urologist that believed it is a structual issue so they did an xray test and it showed nothing wrong. They rules out cancer through an ultrasound. They have taken 8 tubes of blood to test for white blood cell, red blood cell counts and many other things that all come back normal. They have also done 3 urine samples to test. No infections or other issues have been detected. The thing is my son has no symptoms other than the visible blood and it seems to come and go at different times. We have found no connection to why this is happening. The doctors seem stumped and we are really concerned. We live in an area where specialist are not around and so we have to travel almost 6 hours to see the specialist. However he will not see us till all the tests are done. We found out we have to take him back in to have more blood and urine taken now.
Is there a reason for him to have visible blood in his urine with no pain or other symptoms and nothing seems to be showing up? It just doesn't feel right and I am worried for him. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
