It is over 8 months since I terminated my pregnancy and I feel like my hormones still haven't balanced. I got an IUD fitted at the same time so I'm not sure if that is a factor, but my skin is like a teenagers ever since (I'm 29) with constant acne around my jawline, shoulders and neck and prolonged and more severe PMT each month.

Has anyone else had the same experience? Did it improve, if so how long did that take? I'm considering trying acupunture, has anyone tried this for relief from these symptoms?

Thanks

What kind of IUD did you get? The copper one?

A LOT of women notice that their skin gets worse while on an IUD, but not because of the IUD, but because they USED to be on birth control pills which kept their skin nice.

Were you on the pill in the past? That could have kept your skin clear and nice, and now without the pill your skin has become problematic.

There is really no reason an abortion would effect your skin NOW.

Hi Cari,

I hadn't spotted your reply - how kind of you to have taken the time.

This is the mystery - I was NOT on the pill previous to the abortion at all, and it was the Copper coil that I got (no hormones).

I've been getting acupuncture since Christmas to try to help but I've seen no improvement. I have spots down my back even - something I never had as a teenager....

If I thought taking the IUD out would solve it I would probably try that but otherwise it's a great form of contraception and I'd like to keep it...

the skin trouble started when I was pregnant and it just never went away....

yes, I have experienced the some of the same problems. I had an abortion 2 years ago. Since then I have been unable to conceive. I have been seeing different infertility doctors who have ran several different tests, but still say that everything is fine. Since this abortion I have had troubles with acne, bad sinus headaches, premenstral cramps, and fatigue. In never had trouble with any of these things before. If anyone else has any thing to share please let me know.

n Yes ladies, i had hot flushes, allergy, burst out of acne, fatigue, PMS, weight gained, have cold n flu very easily since i had my abortion 7 months ago (while i was 29). All i can say is i am 100% sure there's damage towards hormone balance due to the operation (abortion), but i don't know if there's any other damage as well for example, to ovary. . I am sure it caused all my problems and now it pretty much costs my life. If it's only a matter of hormone imbalance or early menopause (which rarely happen at my age), there's cure in chinese medicine, but not acupuncture (as acupuncture's more useful towards lifting ur energy a bit but it doesn't get to the centre of the problem)
As my parents are chinese medicine doctor, i had been drinking chinese medicine for 1.5 months i see results from all the above symptons reduced. But of course i didn't tell them that i had the abortion, so i were only treated like hormone imbalance due to stress the whole time. i will need to do some further tests with doctor as I HAD AN ABNORMAL PAIN ON MY ABDOMINAL ON THE RIGHT. (WHERE OVERY SHOULD BE)IT FEELS LIKE A IT'S HURTED AND IT HAPPENED STRAIGHT AFTER ABORTION FOR A WEEK OR SO, N ALSO NOW N THEN, ESPECIALLY DURING PERIOD.
IS ANYONE SUFFER ANYTHING SIMILAR? PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT.

*But for normal hormone imbalance, chinese medicine can cure (It takes a lot of effort to make n drink it everyday, but i see a lot of good results from my friends as well.)

If this wasn't normal for you before Then maybe this caused a lot of stress for you.. since i got pregnant and had an abortion my skin has been acting up too... Try exercising and stress relieving activities

It sounds more like estrogen dominance, not just a hormone imbalance. In that case... birth control would make it worse. I would have your doctor do a blood test because estrogen dominance can lead to a lot of other issues. I had a missed misscarriage and have to have a procedure to have it removed and the same thing happened to me.

I have had the same problems since my abortion 3 months ago, I have had problems with acne in the past, but never like the kind I have been dealing with since my procedure. I have non-stop breakouts all over my cheeks and forehead. I think its something to do with hormones, and mine changed after?

Hello I come from France and I had an abortion 4 years ago (I had the 2 kinds of abortions because the first didn't work...)

and got acne since. I didn't take the pill then and I am still not at the moment.

I finally found something that really helps my acne ! It's the Seignlet Diet.

And I also drink a wedge of Aleppo soap in purified water first thing in the morning. I wash my face morning and sometimes evening with a Aleppo soap (that has a strong amont of laurel ) and put jojoba oil after.

Hope it helps. :)

The six main principles of the regime Seignalet

1 Exclude animal milks (cow, goat, sheep) and their derivatives (butter, cheese, cream, yogurt, ice cream) and all products containing among other ingredients of milk powder.Seignalet sees several reasons why milk is not suitable for adults: its primary function is to feed a baby animal in a few months, its proteins are allergens and its calcium content is too high. Il contient en outre beaucoup d’hormones. It also contains many hormones. Also, he says, many adults no longer produce lactase, the enzyme that breaks down lactose (carbohydrate in milk).2. Exclude grain “modern”: wheat, corn, rye, barley, oats, kamut and spelt. These are cereals containing gluten – except corn – and whose current forms were obtained by selection, transplanting, hybridization or genetic modification. Dr. Seignalet call them “grains mutated”.He recommends avoiding these grains and all foods derived from them (bread, pasta, pizza, cakes) because they are difficult to digest. Cereals containing gluten could cause some people intolerances and autoimmune reactions such as celiac disease. In his view, only the rice, the buckwheat , the sesame and quinoa would be acceptable.3. Exclude products cooked to a temperature above 110 ° C. Dr. Seignalet advises consuming mostly raw foods, or if necessary, to cook at a temperature below 110 ° C to minimize the distortion caused by the nutrient heat – including vitamins, omega-3 and the most antioxidants. At higher temperatures, chemical compounds that are not necessarily absorbed by the body may appear, he said. Suggested cooking methods: braising or steaming. Especially avoid cooking in microwave oven that produces an extreme thermal motion.4. Exclude oil extracted hot or cooked. According to Dr. Seignalet, industrial processes of manufacturing of oils and margarines – solvents, refining, bleaching, deodorization – are likely to distort them. It proposes to replace butter, margarine and refined oils with oil, virgin olive oil, canola oil and walnut oil, hazelnut oil from organic farming. He also consults regularly eat fish from cold seas for their fatty acid intake of omega-3 (EPA and DHA).5. Consuming organic foods. Seignalet Dr. recommends focus on certified organic food to take advantage of their nutritional quality and to limit the potential risks associated with pesticides.6. Taking extra vitamins and minerals. The nutrient needs of an individual patient are higher than those of a healthy individual, and food can not provide. Supplements of vitamins, minerals and trace elements are part of the nutritional program Dr. Seignalet. The latter also recommends daily consumption of lactic bacteria which have a beneficial effect on intestinal flora.
