Hello everyone,

This anxiety thing is killing me. It started happening to me just recently and I don't know how to deal with it. I'm working in an office and it is almost impossible for me to keep my focus on work. I can't go working for five minutes without losing my focus and then it takes me about 20 minutes to get it back. I get totally unproductive and I am just waiting for a day, for a minute for my boss to tell me that I am fired. I am totally hopeless, please help me out here, what can I do to stop this?

Hey Guest,

Have you ever noticed that your focus gets worse as the day wears on? That’s because paying attention for long periods of time takes up a lot of energy.

Your brain derives energy from glucose—a simple sugar. You need around 420 kcal’s in order to maintain normal function—that’s around 100 pistachios or 4 bananas. Try planning snacks through out the day to boost your brain function. The more mentally taxing a task, the more energy your brain uses.

Also, if you are trying to focus or perform two tasks that draw from the same resources pool, both of these tasks will suffer. There’s only so much attention and concentration to go around.

Hi Guest,

I would suggest yoga and meditation. Both of these are very good at helping you with controlling your thoughts, these two combined have a remarkable effect on your brain. By doing yoga exercises and using the technique of meditation, it should be easier for you to focus on one thing and simply decide not to think about anything else rather than that one thing.

The good thing about these things is that they require literally nothing but your time. You can do yoga in the very morning or in the evening, and you can meditate whenever you really want to.

Hi Nina, hi Gaia,

A friend of mine at work also keeps telling me that meditation is a good thing but I didn't really pay much attention to what he was saying, I honestly thought that it was all nonsense and that nothing like that can really help me "clean" my thoughts, let's say it that way. But now that you suggested the same thing, I believe that there has to be something good about this meditation thing. I don't know about yoga though, I mean, I can give it a shot if you really think that it can help me as well.

Good day everyone. I have the same problem. I used to have small panic attacks, but very soon they become abnormal attacks. They were so strong that I started to lose my focus. I just couldn't keep up doing nothing and I felt so bad about this. I was talking to my friends who also had anxiety attacks and they told me that there is nothing much that I can do about it. Then I found some good tips on the internet and I also found that mediation is helpful. But you really need to learn how to meditate. Once you learn about this, you will see another picture of it. Good luck, it is worth of trying.

Good day there. I have anxiety attacks as well and yoga helped me a lot. Not completely, but a lot. Once you try something like that, I am sure that it is going to help you control your mind and control your thoughts and it can help you feel much calmer than you were before, that is for sure. So I really love doing yoga because it doesn't need a lot of time to understand it. All you need to do is to learn how to control your body and soon you will feel much better than before. Trust me about this one, I was skeptical as well about this...

Hey. To be honest with you, I have never tried yoga. I don't know why, but somehow it didn't make any sense to me. But now when I am reading all your comments I can see that I made a big mistake. Also, I have heard that music therapy is helpful. That we all should find some good music which can help us deal with anxiety problems. I think that this is also one thing that is worth of trying so I really hope that you can find this advice helpful as well. Good luck and keep on !

Yes, definitely. It is very important to find something that can help you clear your thoughts and it can help you to think less about some problems. Relaxing music is an amazing therapy, I do this occasionally usually when the night comes. Meditation is also amazing thing, I have tried to "learn" how to meditate, but I was not able to do it because it seems to me that I don't have sense lol. Also, some light exercises with relaxing music can also help you get back your focus. Trust me, I have been through this and it is only in your mind.
