I always used to take paracetamol when I got a headache, although that was not very often.  I started getting serious migraines when I was pregnant which carried on for some years after my son was born.  I would sometimes take paracetamol for a headache and my headache would get worse I would start feeling nauseous and then just collapse to the floor with sweats, disorientation nausea.

Because paracetamol has always been said to be safe in the proper dose it didn't occur to me that that was the cause.  I stopped taking paracetamol and now take ibuprofen if I get a bad headache.  They work well and haven't had a falling to the floor episode since.

Hi, my daughter 4 year is also suffering to the similar type allergy.Whenever she got fever Dr give Paracetamol or Nimusulid , after consumption of the same, rashes and swelling all over the body is seen.Like wise some anti allergic is given  and it takes 1-3 days to recover.

Is there any subsitute medicine that can be given to avoid allergy and to overcome fever?

Is there any test to be conducted in India to check which anti-fever medicine will have positive response without allergy. For e.g.: Like Culture Test

I wud be gr8ful if some one could guide me

I too cannot take ANY form or dose of paracetemol after liver damage due to an overdose over 10 years ago. I have only taken 2 pills since and was extremely ill, jaundiced, vomiting bile only, severe pain in liver and kidney areas-the kinf of pain when organs are failing. Symptoms remain for at least 48hrs i take ibuprofen instead now and read all ingredients on packaging to avoid paracetemol at all costs.

Hi, I am also allergic to paracetamol although the allergy started with numbness around the mouth, it finally lead to shortness of breath but was resolved by taking antihistamine tablets. I have been prescribed TRAMADOL by my doctor as the replacement to Paracetamol and it works very well for pain. It can be taken with the anti inflammatory tablets like Asprin, Codeine and Ibuproven, however, I do not like the fact the sometimes it leaves me feeling a little spaced out the next day. It is available on prescription but if you have an allergy your doctor should be able to prescibe it for you without a problem. I have been looking for an alternative, over the counter tablet for mild pain and I have spoken to a few doctors and a pharmacist but they say that all other pain killers (non anti inflammitory) all contain paracetamol. I also researched the two options listed on this forum (Metfal and Cifran) and neither are painkillers. Obviously Asprin, Codeine and Ibuproven are all alternatives if you are able to take them. They are not good for people with stomach ulcers. I hope this helps someone but for the moment I am still on the look out.

Yes, very allergic - facial swelling and airway constriction requiring emergency adrenalin and cortisone injections. Your husband sounds more intolerant than allergic, but definitely something to keep an eye on, and it's certainly possible even though it seems such a weird thing to be allergic to.

I just found out the cause for my terrible pain of the first two finger tips of the left hand! Paracetamol!! Seven months ago too ( and since a week ago until now) I got these symptoms in the finger tips- pain, swelling, redness, and the fingertips become slightly warm. The pain becomes so severe that I feel the whole body affected by it.-especially, the left hand becomes numb with pain. Both these instances I used Paracetamol earlier for some other pain: This time for stomach ache. I consulted specialist doctors too, a physician and a neuro surgeon and I got a test done for carpal tunnel syndrome, which proved negative. ,

Same! I've used panadol (paracetamol) for the first 30 years of my life then for about a year I randomly started getting hives (5 or 6 big ones on my face, neck and right arm, always in the same place) once a month or so and couldn't figure out what the trigger was. Finally worked it out to be paracetamol. Doctor has no explanation. I use nurofen (ibuprofen) now and no reaction.

My husband is allergic to paracetamol. So once in fever a doctor suggested to take avil itself for high temp. Somehow it works, not as efficient as paracetamol. But no other option too.
