I've been having severe pain on my arms all the way down to my wrists. It effects each individual in diferent ways, my problem is worse kuz I suffer from Lupus... I also want to mention to you that Cymbalta also helps with Fibromyalgia aches n pains, I'm taking that too. Ask your doctor to give you both of these, Symbalta is i capsule twice a day.

Gabepentin (neurotin) is a great medication for fibromyalgia when set on a high dose!I am prescribed 1800 mg a day along with percocet 10/325 3 times a day! And also i am on flexaril (muscle Relaxant) 10 mg 3 times a day and 0.5 mg of kolotopin 1 or 2 tabs at bedtime!
Savella is a newer drug that is great as well for fibromyalgia but some medical insurance will not cover Savella!I had great success with the savella ...However my insurance quit paying for it and i was unable to afford it out of pocket! Why i was switched to the Gabepentin!
Also Cymbalta is also a great drug for this condition again however some medical insurance will not cover cymbalata!
What alot of people do not understand with people with fibromyalgia depression plays a part! And when depression sets in your pain gets worse! So an anti depressant pay help such as savella and cymbalta!
I am not a doctor but i have lived with this condition before they even knew what to call this! Many years of struggle not understanding but through much therapy i found ways to cope!
And a good solid sleep pattern helps as well!
I found (Wild Lettuce Extract)30 mgs at bedtime helps me sleep better through the night! You can find wild lettuce extract at your local health store!Make sure you get it in the liquid form!
Exercise (Preferrably Aquatics)even if its 15 minutes of steady movement helps fibro along with a good diet higher in protein then carbs!
Every day i look and i pray for a cure for this terrible illness! I Hope this helps some of you!
 Sincerely ,Living With Fibro

Rita read previous post dear!I have left post previous to yours that might give you some help in what your searching to find. There is no cure for Fibromyalgia however there are meds and a combination of meds that will help only instructed and prescribed from your family doctor or specialist! One key to getting some relief is a solid rest or sleep and as much as it sounds crazy because we who suffer from fibromyagia are in a great amount of pain already; Is exercise and preferably aquatics such as swimming and water exercise is not weight bearing so doing stretches in water is a good way to help ! I sleep with a body size heating pad on low the mild heat penetrates and comforts while asleep ask your doctor to put you on a sleep aid at bedtime. The more sound and more solid your sleep is the better you will feel the next day!I been dealing with fibromyalgia way before i was diagnosed which was in 1996.I have tried a million in one things to get some relief and nothing truly helps but in a previous post i mentioned what combination of meds i am on that do help and even a pain med percocet which dont always take the pain away i am only relieved of some pain! You can try what i use as an extra aid in sleeping solid.(Wild lettuce extract) in the liquid form 30 mgs at bedtime. You can find it online and also in natural health stores. It helps me sleep a solid steady sleep which is one of the key factors in healing from the pains of Fibro!
There are no cures i only wish there was!I am sick of being sick and sad from the constant pain.It hurts to even get a hug at times....May god be with you and all of us whom suffer from this terrible illness!

Hello fellow sufferers. I am so very sorry that so many you have ha little if no relief to your pain. I myself have had this monster of a disease for at least 6 years. I was in the verge of suicide due to the fact so many physicians sweep this disease under the carpet and dismiss your symptoms as a simple depression or cry for attention. I found my angel dr edward washabaugh in Ann arbor mi. He is sensitive caring warm and blessed with insight. I was prescribed gabapentin and within 20 minutes of my first dose I felt as if the kiss of an angel fell upon my legs. I had no idea of the amount of pain I was suffering with until that moment. I am a true believer that this medication works. It may not be for everyone as we are all wired differently however I would not dismiss it all together. Give it a try. I wish you the very best. Sarah

I had fibro for 12 yrs now.  I was first on cymbalta, I felt no change in my pain.  Then I was prescribed Lyrica, the same, no change in pain.  Then the doctor put me on Gabpentin 300mg 3x a day.  Work go for a few months then the pain started to return slowly.  I took 600mg at night because the pain became so bad.  To my surprise I slept all night without pain.  My doctor has now increased my dose to 600mg 3x a day.  So far so good.  I just take it day by day.  I really hope this will last awhile, but as you and I know there is no magic pill for fibro.  Just hang in there and hopefully one day we will all be pain free.     God Bless, Sis

My daughter has fibromyalgia and she was on 900 ml a day. She recently had surgery which causes major flare-ups. Moved her dose up to 1800 a day which help everything, surgery site looked less lacey, pain was less and she was more productive in PT and OT. Tried to come down a bit ,back to 900 ml a day but symptoms are back and flare-ups are returning. Moving dosage up again to get a more relief. It just takes a while to get the dosage right but it does help. It you do the doage on a titration the sleepiness wont be so severe.

I was diagnosed with firomyalgia 5 years ago but suffered for years with chronic pain, fatigue, irritablity, and depression..  I have been on gabapentin for 3 years and it has helped me tremedously.  At first I didn't really notice a difference. One day I was so angry that I was sick and was taking so much medication along with my other meds I threw all of it in the trash. What an mistake!!  Within 2 days I was so miserable I called my doctor (whom was not pleased with my temper tantrum) but had to wait until it was time to refill.  I haven't thrown another tantrum since.  Nothing makes me feel like I used to before all of this started, but the gabapentin helps alot.

I have been sufferinf from Fybromialgia for a while now, only recently has it gotten very bad.

That is when my doctor decided to put me on Gabapentine, but it really wasn't working so she

decided it was time for me to be put on a higher dose, but here is my problem and I can't seem

to be able to get a reply from anyone about my problem. About 3 months ago I started with my normal 300mg

then I was to start 600mg the following week and the 900, all the way to 1200, because I am always uncomfortable.

Well starting maybe a week ago I wake up completely unable to move, my back is in so much pain I am crying,

and my kids have to try and move me. My leg move with some pain and I have little to no problem with my arms.

It can take up to 6 hours for me to be able to get up and do things on my own. I am fustrated because I just recently

started taking my own little cocktail of my meds and this seems to help. I do not want to say what I take for fear that

someone will think the wrong thing. I do suffer from sever depression and I take meds for that and to help me sleep,

because I suffer from ansomnia. I am looking for answers, my doctor is on vacation and the only thing I got

from her office was dial 911, that would just mean that they would put me on Morphine and let me go home and

tell me to get ahold of my PCP. I would be so greatful for any help!:-D

I have been suffering from inner ear, left temple throbbing that goes down to my neck.Only on left side. I have been to Dr after Dr. One telling me one thing and others telling me something else. I have been on different meds which none have worked or eased the problem. This has been going on since April 2012 and I deal with this pain daily and working on top of it. I have been to ear, nose and throat Dr. which did blood work and CAT scan..which nothing showed up. Looking in my ear, he says is clear, when I know I feel something in there. I have been told TMJ, which I went to the dentist and I don't have and been to the ER twice. HELP!!! It feels like my body is shuting down and I just want to lay down.

I have been taking Gabapentin to relieve symptoms as my doctor eliminates other possible reasons for my discomfort. I started off with 300 mg, once a day--at night also. I had no problem sleeping. On the contrary, I seemed to sleep better--more soundly. Unfortunately, however, the low dosage I was taking wasn't doing the trick. He eventually, over time, increased my dosage to the "maximum" (anything over does nothing)--1200 mg. three times a day. It seems to make my discomfort bearable--better than nothing, basically.
