I will give you the information that you are interested in, but the best thing for you to do is to ask your doctor about your particular case. He is the one who knows the most about it and I am sure that he will be able to help you. Bacterial vaginosis is a mild infection in the vagina caused by a type of bacteria and vagina normally contains a lot of good bacteria. These are called lactobacilli. Vagina also contains a few other types of bacteria, called anaerobes which can cause bacterial vaginosis. It is unknown why the anaerobe bacteria overgrow and cause this infection. Sign of this infection is a discharge from your vagina that can be clear or colored. It can also be very light or heavy, have a fishy smell, but some women have bacterial vaginosis without any symptoms. This infection is more common in women who are sexually active, but it can also occur in women who are not sexually active. If the infection is not treated, the bacteria can get up into the uterus or the fallopian tubes and cause more serious infections.
