I am a vegetarian and although vegetarian people are not supposed to be podgy, I have put on so much weight that I do belong to that category right now and I don't like it. Although I eat my veg I am wondering if there are vegetables that are more suitable than others for dieting. I know avocados contain fat and they should be avoided. What are the dos and don'ts in veggie world?

I know that there are some ways of preparing vegetables that are less healthy than others. Regardless of which vegetables you are using, cooking with a lot of fat is much more fattening than steaming, for instance. Perhaps I am stating the obvious but this can make a huge difference. I love steaming and grilling myself, and eating salads is also great for diets.
