I have a question about exercising as a diabetic.

Exercise is the best thing for a diabetic to participate in and the inclusion of it in the diabetic therapy is essential.  Moderately vigorous activity each day is important because it improves insulin resistance, one of the hallmarks of diabetes.  When insulin cannot be utilized in facilitating glucose in entering the cells, than the cells are not getting energy.  When a person engages in regular exercise, then the glucose gets burned up efficiently, requiring the need for more insulin.  This helps the insulin sensitivity and reverses diabetes.  You can do any type of exercises that you are happy with.  This may include walking, swimming, biking, volleyball, or other types of activity.  If the exercise tapes are something you think you will enjoy and stick with, by all means, use them!  I used to do Richard Simmons tapes back in the day and loved working out to them.  I usually did those every day and walked for an hour a night.  The local gym offered weight machines so I used those to work out my muscle groups.  You can do anything you wish as far as exercise. Just make sure you eat your carbs.  Exercise will lower your blood glucose so you needn’t worrying about it raising your blood sugar.
