Hi. I am 52 years old woman and I suffer from a bladder wall obstruction. I had problems with starting the urinary stream, and the stream is very weak. I often have to go to the bathroom. My doctor told me I should quit smoking, but I don`t see what`s smoking got to do with my problem. I have a urinary catheter. I feel irritated and doctor told me that is a common side effect of a treatment. Should I ask for a second opinion?

Hi. I also have a bladder wall obstruction and a tube, which drains the urine. Side effect of the tube is that it always makes me feel an urge to urinate. If you quit smoking you will reduce the risk of bladder tumors, or urethral cancer. A urinary catheter can cause irritation where it exits from the body. I hate the tube. It is also very irritating. It drives me crazy. I quit smoking. Nothing else to do, I guess.
