bleeding after Mirena removal

I had my IUD for 4 weeks and hated it from day 1 because of all possible side effects. Had it removed on March 5th and started bleeding like crazy. It came out like a waterfall with clots. Soaked tampons and pads within minutes and started feeling really weak. Yesterday (March 10th) I went to my family physician. He gave me two pills to stop the bleeding and it helped a lot. He prescribed a high dose of iron which I have to take for a month. Furthermore he referred my to an ultrasound which I had done today. Vaginal blood clots were visible. Everything else looked fine. No fibroids, cysts, polyps... He prescribed me another two of the blood stopper pills but told me just to take them in case of an emergency as they can cause blood clots in legs and lungs. So be careful when you take them for a longer time.

He told me to come back in a few days in case it does not stop bleeding. Then he would refer me to a GYN to get a hysteroscopy done. The IUD could have injured the inside of the uterus. You are not able to see this during an ultrasound. If this is the case the bleeding has to be stopped otherwise it could be life-threatening.

I had a blood work done as well. So my family physician really cares about it. He also said: If something like this happens again: Go to the ER. Bleeding like this is NOT normal. He could not even do an exam because of all my blood flow.

I had merina removed a week ago today, on the day I had a little bleeding, but it eased, nothing for a couple of days then bam two days ago I got a bad fever, pain in my groin, and then the next morning I was walking and I felt a gush of blood, pants were soaked and I had to rush to the shower, honestly felt like my water had broken like it did with my daughter ! ... I endes up having several clots come out and I felt every one.. Then an hour later it just stopped. Today there is just spotting... I'm now so scared of anything happening now just encase! I still have pain but I feel fine other than a bit of nausea ... Anyone else get this ? 

I had mirena placed on the 31/3/14 it lasted 2 weeks inside me I had the most excruciating cramps after it was unreal a delay of 10 mins I rang my mum for her to take me home from the hospital.. I thought I'd try and long it out by the second week, I was throwing up I actually thought I was dieing.. The amount of gushes I had I was so scared so I went back 14/4/14 to have it taken out now I thought that bleeding was bad whilst in , well I never when I had it taken out and I have been bleeding heavily since not even just spotting this is running down your legs , staining clothing , dropping on the floor , seeping through clothing I'm only 19 and I went to work tues and today weds and had to run to the toilet literally every half hour and I changed I to 3 outfits whilst doing a 7.5 hour shift very scared I don't know whether it's going to stop and I just want a peace of mind, Danielle x

Go and see a doctor. I was almost bleeding to death. I needed to take pills to stop the bleeding. My family physician was very worried about me. My bleeding stooped immediately after taking the pills and the only thing that happened for another few days was that I passed some older blot clots. But since then I just had a few days of spotting but I thought this could have been my first period. It's been 6 weeks after removal now and I am back to normal. I am pain free and feel great

How long did it take to finally stop?

Heavy bleeding lasted for about 1 week. I'm 2 months post removal and haven't had a period yet. Only passed old blood clots after 4 and 8 weeks. I only had Mirena for 4 weeks but it screwed up my body. At least all the other side effects are gone (went away quickly after removal)

I had my IUD for 5 years and in that 5 years i never had a period. Not even spotting. I got my IUD removed 2 weeks ago not only bc its life is over but to also try to have another baby. Had no problems the 1st, 2nd or 3rd day and then out of no were im bleeding uncontrolably. It stops and then returns within hours of me thinking its over and blod clots..... It doesnt seem normal at all. W

I, like many of you on here am looking for advice on how long the bleeding will last for after the removal of mirena. The mirena was recommended to me to reduce the heavy bleeding I was experiencing when I had my period (saturated every hour for at least two days of my period) which would prevent me from going places which was not near a toilet. I had the mirena inserted approximately one year ago and throughout the year I constantly had spotting and heavier period like bleeding but nothing compared to the bleeding before insertion. One year on though I had had enough of the daily bleeding I asked for it to be removed. I got this removed last Friday and only had spotting for the first couple of days but the bleeding has now turned heavy. Can anyone advise how long this goes on for?

A couple weeks ago my boyfriend said he could not feel my IUD during intercourse. I went had it checked, it was still there. We were going out of town so I waited to have it removed. When I went back a week later , the Dr. was unable to find it. Was referred to an ultra sound but would have to wait two and a half weeks. During intercourse again he said he could feel it again. I had him remove it. I was just on the last day of my period. No heavy bleeding but some cramping. Maybe that's the trick the timing of removing it? But I had Mirena almost 10years, two 5 year ones and was extremely happy with this birth control

I got the birth control so I wouldn't have a period anymore... Well after I got it I bleed for a year straight than it started to b normal periods again I had it for 3 years I went ahead and had it removed because I was tired of never knowing when I was gonna have a period and How long it was gonna last.. after I got it removed I had bad cramps for a week and twofers later Had a period for two days is that normal I'm just glad I got it removed!!

Had it removed 8 days ago after having it in 14 months, 2 weekends ago between it & the constipation I couldnt walk or bend (I am used to constipation but used the bathroom daily). No bleeding until 2 days later & it was heavy clotting on Friday & Sunday. Almost went away Monday & Tuesday. Now again today mid morning heavier.  I just want this over with, I had it removed because I still had severe PMDD, cramps, mood swings, worse insomnia, worse depression, worse constipation, irregular spotting, pain sometimes from sex & bleeding every time I had sex. I'm 34, no kids. I expected to bleed for a week or two though doctors/nurses/ drug company tells you nothing & my nurse said bleeding & pain & a partner feeling the strings was unusual, well not if you look online at all these messages boards full of hundreds or thousands or miserable women.
