I had my mirena taken out 15 days ago. The day I had it taken out, I got on the pill (generess fe). That pill sucked btw, I broke out in cystic acne all over my face and I know its from the pill because I stopped use of it a week an a half after and the very next day my acne significantly cleared. ANYWHO, when I got it taken out everything was fine until I had intercourse the 5th day. The very next morning I had what I thought was my regular period. I've been bleeding for about 11 days now each day has been heavy, but these last 3-4 days have been so heavy that I've soaked threw my super tampon and my safety pad in 2 hours. I've been having a lot of clotting and at one point in the 2nd day of my "period" I had a clot the size of my thumb! My ring size is a 10. Huge right? Yeh. So I want to know if this is normal, because my nurse says it is, but it freaks me out. (my periods have never lasted over 6-7 days even before mirena)

I had my Mirena for 3 and 1/2 years and the last 2 years with it were plain hell, Cramping and bleeding CONSTANTLY and then severe pains after intercourse to the point i couldn't even get out of bed for hours, i got it removed 3 months ago and found out that it had moved and cut into my cervix and had caused 3 to 4 cm of scar tissue and i started bleeding heavily on the way home and have been bleeding heavily ever since, im talking 9 to 10 tampons and pads a day i have to set my alarm for every hour on the hour at night otherwise i bleed through, i am seriously done with this bs and i will NOT recommend it to anyone.

I had my Mirena IUD out on Feb 11 2013. I spotted for the first couple of days and my bleeding has been heavy to light since then. Sometimes with clots. I will think its done and then it starts again. I am approaching the two week mark of having it removed after being in for a solid 5 years. I am hoping the bleeding stops soon. My doctor keeps telling me its normal.

I had my Mirena inserted Oct 2012 and except for all of about 3 days total, I have been bleeding the entire time.  It's anywhere from needing only a liner to other days where 1 to 2 tampons are needed.  This completely interfered with my sex life so I had it removed last week.  After the removal, the bleeding increased dramatically (going thru a tampon and pad within an hour) with tons of clotting.  My dr told me that I was to call her if I'm still bleeding after a week because that wouldn't be normal.  That was 4 days ago and the bleeding/clotting is still pretty heavy so anticipating making that call this coming up Wed.  I wish I hadn't even gotten the thing to begin with as it's completely screwed up my system.

My bleeding finally stopped 2 weeks to the day after removal from having it in for 5 years. I was really starting to get scared because it was very heavy.. It was like an extremely heavy period the final day with lots of bleeding and more clotting that I had seen from the 2 weeks prior, but then it just stopped the next day, I would never again get any type of IUD. It worked well when I had it however the unpredictable nature after removal was not something I would put myself through again. I really got on this site bc I wanted to be sure I wasn't the only one going through this.

I had my IUD removed after having it for 18 months, I got my cycle the entire time every 28 days. I also missed 3 months here and there but would get it again every 28 days. The day I got it out I got my period it lasted a full 7 days it wasn't heavy and I didn't pass any clots. I guess I got lucky, but 28 days later no sign of AF I have been getting pregnancy symptoms all the above so I took a pregnancy test it was pos then I took another 2 both pos, then I get 4 negs and 2 more pos. Day 35 in my cycle I started like really light spotty flow if that makes any sence for 2 days on and off then it was just a very light spotting or a dark brown light spotting for 4 more days. Has anyone else had this? I'm now getting neg test results and I never actually bled or had any clotting so I know it wasn't a miscarriage I have had 3 miscarriages and I didn't have any of that happen this time.

I had my Mirena removed around three months ago. I had it inserted after having Cryoablation surgery because I was hemorrhaging every month while having my period. I had it removed because I was experiencing a heavy feeling, bloating like I was going to start my period on a continuous basis. Also constant slight cramping, and between 5-10 lb weight gain. I am a small person very active in my 40's able to eat what I want and not put on weight except for when this was inserted. Had it for almost 2 years. Now that it's out, I don't have the heay feeling anymore but spot and get cramps every week or so. It's very aggravating. Is anyone else experiencing these symptoms?  Is it just my body regulating itself again?

My situation seems to be different from all of yours. My mirena was inserted early 2010 and I just had it removed late february. I had periodic really mild periods lasting maybe 3 days every 3-4 months during the time I had my IUD. I actually lost about 25 lbs while I had my IUD. As soon as I took it out however I gained 6-8 lbs immediately and had cravings to eat all day long.  I didnt initially bleed after removal for about 3 days. When I did it was similar to my periods on the IUD; very mild and short. It has been 16 days since then and all of a sudden I woke up for a couple days with nausea and I started bleeding very heavy. I am on day two of this and I am passing small clots and bleeding so heavy I am going thru a tampon every 20 min to an hour.  My husband and I are trying for a baby and I am hoping to concieve any time if I havent already.

I just had mirena taken out on Mar 1 which was the second day of my cycle (I got them throughout) and started heavy heavy bleeding with clots March 2 for 5 more days. Had sex with my spouse on the on March 8th thinking it was only 8 days after the first day of my cycle so I should not be ovulating, and should be getting my period today and so far no sign of it happening. I do not want another child, can anyone tell me when they got their next period after the removal of mirena.
