not worried sick, now relieved: final post (hopefully!) on my saga above: had my appointment at the colposcopy clinic yesterday and the cervix is fine. The bleeding has now stopped (I hope!) and the consultant told me the bleeding was probably hormonal due to miscarriage in March, however me having a scan on the womb fast was very important because there could have been something left behind that could have caused infections (which can make you bleed) and that left untreated if it had been the case could have been serious (which is one of the things that was terrifying me). She also said having a look at the cervix in the colposcopy appointment was also very important because it could easily have been a problem with that (especially given my history when I had CIN2 cells removed 3 years ago). Thank goodness! I am so relived! Was told it may have been made worse because of stress but unfortunately that is a catch 22 situation as how can you stop stressing when you don't have an appointment to investigate let alone an answer. Scary times! Anyway now feeling so relieved and happy!
So to summarise: always nag your doctor to get checked out because if it is hormonal at least you know and sometimes they can treat that, always get STI's ruled out because caught early enough they can usually treat that (and leveing them won't make them go away), always get your cervix checked out and get a scan! Then at least you know what you are dealing with. But in reply to someone's post above: It is not always PSCO and (hopefully) you are not always infertile.
After 9 weeks of bleeding and fear I have every sympathy with all of you suffering with this and wish you all the best.

Worried sick now feeling relieved! Had colposcopy appointment and cervix is fine. Consultant said bleeding was def womb not cervix and probably hormonal most likely because of miscarriage in March and likely made worse by stress. Bit of a catch 22 situation (bleeding has now stopped, I hope!) as can't un-stress when don't have an appointment for investigations let alone answers!
She's said not to worry if things are wierd for a few weeks, but if still not normal for ME after 1 month to get checked out again and book another scan!
She said colposcopy appointment and scan were vital checks and that I was right to nag for appointments (could easily have been a problem with the cervix or somehing left behind in my womb that could have caused serious problems if undiagnosed/treated).
So relieved!
After 9 weeks of bleeding and fear I have every sympathy for all of you with continued bleeding and wish you all all the best.
In answer to person who posted 'you all have PCOS and are infertile' that's not nessessarily true, there are loads of possible reasons some of which I've listed below:
Early miscarriage
Hormonal issue
Stress
Cancer (get pap/cervical smears or if neccessary a colposcopy to rule this out)
STI's (including clamydia, gonorreah, HIV - so get tested!)
Damage to the cervix or irritation (can be cause by tampons, washing powder, sex, other things)
Peri-menopause
PCSO
Fibroids
Medication (including the pill or injection)
Swelling of the cervix / infection
Mucas duct on cervix being blocked
And loads of other things, so don't get depressed (easy to say, I did get depressed!) get down the doctors and get yourself tested for STI's, get a scan, get a colposcopy, get a blood test, have regular pap/cervical smear tests and don't give up until you get some answers! Good luck!

Hi - I'm 42 and into 4th week of bleeding which I'm VERY over. I went to the doctors today and he's prescribed Primolut which is a synethic version of the hormone progesterone (naturally occurs during sex) which is responsible for the development of a healthy womb lining. Hopefully the bleeding will stop within a day or two although he told me to keep going for 10 days otherwise it will return. After the ten days there will be a 'wash-up' heavy period. Afterwards he suggested a ultrasound scan to check overies are all ok - could be polups causing the bleeding. Hope this helps.

I went through the same thing years ago with very heavy bleeding and extreme pain in my abdomen. After bugging my doc several times they finally found that I had a severe case of endometriosis. I ended up having a hysterectomy. I don't know if you have the same thing, but this is serious! Please just keep hounding your doctor until she does something about it!!! I will pray for all of you.
