I know these messages are like over a year old by now, but I'm 15 and have been bleeding for 6 weeks straight. Just like a lot of you, I've been getting new and old blood and there has been a lot of clotting. One of my friends mentioned that someone she knew had the same problem, and she learned that her hormones had been trying to get rid of some kind of cancer. I'm so worried and no one seems to know what's going on. Any info???

I have been having the same problem I had my period as normal but was really heavy for 6 days then 3 weeks after heavy to light spotting everyday then last Saturday started heavily bleeding again and still am . All I been getting is huge clots and having to change every 1-2 hrs as the flow is that heavy . I have a hospital appointment on 5th December but I'm very worried as it's not normal to lose this much blood and I'm in a lot of discomfort .

I am 49 and in perimenopause. I'm in the middle of my 3rd episode of long-term bleeding. 1st was 34, 2nd was 29, and this time I'm on day 27 so far. I am told that I'm probably not ovulating anymore and have high estrogen without the progesterone to counter it. With high estrogen, the uterus keeps building up lining until the body simply can't support it. Progesterone is supposed to hold the uterus in a kind of stasis. But apparently you don't produce the progesterone unless you first ovulate. So, now I'm on progesterone, but this month it hasn't stopped the bleeding.

I was diagnosed with dysfunctional uterine bleeding and anemia last week due to 3 weeks profused vaginal bleeeding. I was ordered to undergone blood test and TVS. Initially my doctor prescribed Tranexamic Acid. Once my blood result was in and found out I was anemic I was prescribed with Iron and folic acid.. after my normal result of TVS it was found out that my bleeding is caused by stress which resulted to hormonal imbalance so I was ordered to take hormonal pill for 3 months.. 5 days post taking the pill my bleeding stops and I am still continuw monitoring my progress. The best thing you should do is to got to your doctor for consultation and to run series of test so that they will know how to manage your case.. hope this can help..

I’ve been having the same thing! This week marks the 9th week of heavy bleeding.
I got an ultrasound, the doctors checked my uterus, ovaries everything. Turns out I have PCOS. Imbalance hormones. I’ve tried pills and cream. Still I bled like a volcano. So my doctor injected me with progesterone. My second day now and the bleeding has stopped! Well not completely. But feels like the end of your period. You should check with the doctor to see what you have first though.
Anyways I have a question. After being injected. I feel so tired, feverish. Does anybody get this? I swear I’ve been sleeping for 24 hours now

I was diagnosed with PCOS and they have to do test and ultra sound usually to find out if you have it. But my symptoms are the same as above the heavy bleeding for long periods at a time is normal with PCOS because once they stop you dont have one again for usually months at a time. Im trying a 3rd birthcontrol now thats not helping me either, its all trial and error till they figure out what works best for you.

Have you tried medroxyprogesterone? That’s is what my Dr prescribed and it worked. I also suffer from PCOS, Endometriosis, and heavy prolonged periods for years. The Progesterone was the only thing besides the pill that regulated me. It’s worth taking to your Dr about.

I don’t want to go through surgery or birth control pills because as far as I know they don’t help but makes it worse ! So what did you get to stop the prolonged bleeding ? Did it stop or came back again and again non stop ? Please help ! Shed some light on the matter please !!!
