I am shocked to read your account as almost exactly same happened to me only last year..i was told I was to have laparoscopic route and then bile leak in abdomen of 7 litres causing septiceamia. I had 4 further procedures under General anaesthetic and none open surgery so none finding cause.finally a surgeon opened me and found the extra duct..i am still tired from all that happened and not physically on form and now learn yet another op is needed as incisional hernia has now formed.

I have also had my gal bladder removed and I too have (or had) an extra bile duct. Interestingly enough I also have an extra vertebrae in my back. My surgeon called me a little freak of nature.

Hello! Just had my gallbladder removed 5 days ago and I'm just leaving the hospital today due to a bile leakage from an extra duct. So reading your story helped to shed some light on why I felt the way I have. Thanks for sharing! Btw, I had to miss church also :/

I just had my gall bladder removed and was told that I had two ducts. I guess I don't have to worry because I think they took all of the bladder and the ducts. Have you had any further issues with your situation? We ought form a club.

Hello, My sister had emergency gall bladder surgery and doctors told her she had an extra bile duct. They nick her liver, she had two more surgeries because of it. However, she is having pain in stomach radiating to her back when she eats any FATS. THE PAIN IS EXACTLY what I experienced with my gallbladder attacks. She won’t go back to doctor so I can’t tell you anymore. Hope all is well with you.

Hi I had my gallbladder removed yesterday and also had the same, i was told it’s very rare and hadn’t been seen before I was kept in with a drain to make sure I had no bile leaking. I would love to know if you had any problems after. X

I had the same thing happen. My surgeon said t was extremely rare . It caused some bile to leak into my abdomen and I had to have a drain for a few days . I am fine now and have had no problems. My surgery was in 2014.

my sister was discovered to have two galbladders 15 years ago. They just took out one, told her the other was redundant and would become scar tissue. After her initial surgery, she has had no problems. Two galbladders happens to 1 in 4000 people. Hope this helps.

I just read your posts. If my story helps anyone. It was in 2005. Was suppose to be routine. The small intestine was punctured. Was converted to on open procedure. They made telephone calls from the OR to teaching hospitals and other physicians, and decided to attach it to the liver. After the surgery, I was transfer by ambulance to a larger hospital. Ran a test to make sure the duct appeared to be attached correctly. Was in the hospital for 12 days. Obtained a wound infection was placed on a wound vac and on it for 13 weeks. My attending told me A&P is pretty much 75 percent straight forward. It is 25 percent unknown, and that is why you need your Dr's training, experience along with their peers, their networks ,because there are always gray areas. of unknowns.

Yep I was born with two bile ducts myself. Going in December 1 to Cedar Sinai (dr. Simon Lo) .. i’m told he’s one of the best in the country. Also advised that the situation is so rare that they want to use me as a teaching study. When they perform the surgery they’re gonna send it out all over the world to educate other doctors. In fact the doctors are really geeking out about it.. expediting everything and getting me in there as quick as possible because cancer is a certainty!!!! If you haven’t had your second bile duct taken out or looked at you need to have it done today!!
