Hi, I want to try Brazilian wax, but I heard that it hurts like hell. Have you tried it? Does it involve only the bikini area, or everything?

Hi, I had my first Brazilian waxing two months ago. I have to admit that the pain was awful, and I still feel sick when I remember it. However, I met some women who had slight pain, which lasted only a few seconds. So don’t be afraid, maybe you’ll be luckier than I was. They removed my hair from the buttocks to the anus, perineum and vulva. They asked me if I wanted to leave a small line of pubic hair above the vulva, but I didn’t want to do that. I asked them to remove everything. This waxing is called Full-Brazilian, and if I left that line above the vulva, it would be called just Brazilian. I like this waxing so much, that I don’t mind for the pain, I will do it again in couple of days.

I would highly recommend AGAINST trying to do a Brazilian wax yourself. It's incredibly hard to reach those areas and it ends up being a big mess. I tried it with very sticky, messy, horribly ineffective results and then ran screaming to the salon to have them fix it. Save yourself some time and heartache and start at the salon.

I totally vote for the full brazilian wax! I have been getting them for a year and I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby. I didn't get this done for my first pregnancy, but it's so luxurious and very special to have done. I does hurt the first few times, but then it's not so bad and super nice for summer!! The front hurts the most and all of the places you'd think would hurt a lot, really don't. Definitely don't do this yourself a go to a trained professional. Aveda salons are wonderful! Good luck!

I think I'll end up getting one. How much do they typically cost and how long does it last?

Sure, the pain factor is there. But the whole process is over in no time, and the end result is so worth it. Besides, it not an unbearable pain really. How long it lasts depends on how fast your hair grows back. That can mean anywhere from about 2-3 weeks to upwards of 6 or 7 weeks for some people. Average is about 3-5 weeks. But keep in mind that the longer you keep at it, the hairs wil begin to grow back more sparse, and the shaft of the hair itself tends to get thinner over time. This results in longer periods between waxings for most people. However, it takes some time to get to that point. Don't expect it to happen after waxing just once or twice.
The cost varies according to where you go. I would recommend a good day spa with trained estheticians. Sure, many people can wax, but not all are trained to do Brazilian waxing. It's always best to find someone with both the proper training, and experience with this type of waxing. Anyway, a good day spa will run you about $60-$80 on average for a full Brazilian waxing. Some charge less, some more. The figures I provided are just an average, in my opinion. Beware of the nails/tanning/waxing combination salons. These are famous for unsanitary conditions, and untrained people doing the waxing. It's not worth the little money you save by going to one of these places. Choose wisely where you go.
And yes, it IS possible to do it yourself. I have been dojing it for years now. But, I do NOT suggest it for someone who has never had it done before because there are things that can go wrong - particularly skin tears and bruising. Ouch! Been there, done that. And that "Ouch' can last for a few DAYS at a time. But DIY waxing is a whole 'nother topic in itself. For now, your best bet is to let a professional take care of it for you.

Yes it is very painful however I think it's all worth it at the end. The first time was very painful but as you continue to get the wax it is less painful and sometimes not painful at all. They remove EVERYTHING even your behind. I would recommend everyone to get it done.
