Hey All...I know these posts go back a while but I found them because I was experiencing the same thing - pain in my back between and/or behind my shoulder blades. Several trips to chiropractor, no relief.   First doc said gall bladder, sent me to surgeon, surgeon said I dont think its gall bladder, sent me for endoscopy and colonoscopy, Gi doc said possible celiac so changed diet...turns out I do have a gluten sensitivity but not severe - IT WAS THE MILK!  As part of the celiac diet I eliminated dairy for a few weeks.  Symptoms went away within three days.  I added dairy back and a day later - hello burning pain in back!  Hope this helps someone.

I have the same thing for about a month now, but also have a very sore neck

(like my head is too heavy for my body). Have been getting chiropractor treatments

for over a month now for what the Doctor called "Forward Head Posture'. Since I work

at a computer several hours a day and also spent 20 years looking through a microscope

all day, I do believe this ais a correct diagnosis, as it is clearly visible that my posture is

terrible (slouching, rounded shoulders, forward head). It is helping, bit by bit.

I am trying really hard to be aware of my posture and to correct that.

Have been reading up on Forward Posture; it can affect almost every system in your

body and cause loss of quality of life. Just a thought for you....

Do you have an inflamed nerve? Or do you have fibromyalgia? I have both and the burning pain in my upper back is almost unbearable at times. I go to a Pain Specialist and he tries different things on me. I don't have it all the time. I am unsure as to why it rears it's ugly head. It's so painful...go to a Pain Specialist..

I've been searching for answer for 3 years. I keep on landing on this page. Nexium and all the other pills are not working and the feeling in my back is spreading. Is this fatal? Has anybody come back with a final diagnosis?

It is acid re-flux.
We all associate Acid re-flux with burning acid coming up form our tummy which makes u feel sick but this is another form of Acid re flux, symptoms are feeling of something stuck in your throat, also mucus and having to clear your throat, pain in shoulder blades (burning sensation).
I have all these symptoms and have had many tests and now on an antacid prescribed by the Doctor

Hey i know you posted this a long time ago but i have very similar pain it is a severe burning pain between my shoulder blades at all times i dont know if its just the way i was built or if its due to the pain in my back, but when im not thinking about it , i lift my shoulders up a little kind of towards my head and i really believe this contributes to the problem its almost a slight shrug, like holding them straight up towards my ears but only about an inch? i do it without thinking about it but when i catch myself doing it i force myself to relax them and put them down. This is when i notice the pain gets worse and relationship between that and the pain. I can imagine you naturally lift you shoulders a bit looking in the microscope too. Mine is so bad getting a massage feels so good i almost cant handle it its like extreme ticklish almost when i try to get one? Anyways over the years, the only medication i have found that truly helps the problem was a muscle relaxer called soma or carisoprodol problem is its very intoxicating and also VERY addictive. I can not take it at all anymore for this reason. Its a very frustrating problem to have another treatment that gives me relief is a device called a tins unit or tens unit its an electrical diode pack. You attach these sticky pads to your back and then you can adjust the level. It gives you a low level electric shock in a wave motion, constant or what feels like a vibrating electric shock. this helps me out a lot generally make me almost completely free of pain between my shoulders, usually all night and into the next day.I really hope something i said can help you in some way i wish you the best of luck.

Hi,

I also have the same problems as described above.

I used to work 80 hours a week, 6 days a week involving heavy lifting at times. My body was telling me that it was exhausted, but I ignored it. Not long, and all the symptoms showed.

Went to the doctors, spent an awful lot of money on therapies - chiro, massages, accupunture, even hypnosis without getting anywhere. One doctor wanted to put my on antidepressants! obviously said no.

I experience heavy head, feel like I can't take a breath in sometimes, difficulty eating. Have knots under my ribs on the back, it stretches to my neck and hips.

Simple activity like cooking, ironing puts me to bed.

The reason why I'm writing this is because I recently started putting two soft pillows under my head, but I put the bottom pillow diagonally on the side of my sore shoulder to support it. So one shoulder is higher, the other one lower and head supported.

When I want to sleep on the side, I make sure that I'm lying on the good shoulder, bringing it lower, not stretching it higher like we usually do. I also put a pillow in front of me to rest my ohter hand on it to relax my shoulder.

I've been doing this only for few days, but the results are instant.

I also realize that I'm going to have to start swimming once I get fit.

I also noticed that my body was twisted in a sence when I looked in the mirror to see my posture, and this is helping my to bring the shoulders in line for now.

Hope this helps, would love to hear your comments...
