Very little is understood about HPV. Even doctors don’t understand it very well because not a lot of research has been done on this extremely common virus. I believe that is why there has been so much failure to have it properly diagnosed by a professional, as we can see from reading through this thread. Also, testing of HPV in males is very inaccessible. And this particular, rather peculiar symptom (immediate or lingering burning sensation directly associated with alcohol consumption) is virtually undocumented. However, a seasoned urologist with a strong knowledge of infectious diseases might pick up on it, but most wouldn’t.
Almost all sexually active people get HPV in their lifetime. 79 million Americans (1 in 4) are currently infected with one or more types of HPV. 80% of Americans will have it in their lifetime. Most people are never even aware that they have it. There are over 100 types of HPV. Not all types cause genital warts and not all types are cancerous. It can be transmitted without sexual intercourse taking place, but usually it is transmitted through vaginal or anal intercourse. It is much more threatening to women than men because each year almost 13,000 women get cervical cancer and all cervical cancer is caused by HPV. HPV-related anal cancer and penile cancer are much rarer.

I've seen four different docs, including two urologists, none of them mentioned HPV. Is it possible they don't know, or did they rule it out and not feel the need to mention it? I'll ask on my next visit.

I think they probably don’t know about this symptom AND ruled it out, if they did think about it, because of the absence of testing options, assuming you’re a male. A thorough visual examination for genital warts is the next best thing to a standard test. You can use Google Images search engine for a visual reference and inspect yourself. But even that might not be definitive because not all HPV infections produce warts. Please consider sharing any relevant learnings.

I was tested for HPV when I was pregnant and during my last gyno exam. It's not HPV for me.

Sorry, I have to ask because on this thread there are actually two different sets of symptoms described by posters.
Which one describes your situation best?:
1) more internal: bladder, urinary tract, genitals
2) more external: penile glans, vagina, rectum

Internal
I don't want to brag ;-) , but from the posts I've read I'm the only one who's had a Cystoscopy. My urologist said my bladder lining was "messed up" (medical term). I would call it inflamed. He didn't know what caused it. I consulted with a second urologist who said it was likely irritated by something in my diet.

Exactly, it probably is diet--more specifically what you drink regularly. Let me know if you want to explore that more deeply. The HPV theory would be the most likely etiology of the type 2 situation.

I cut out caffeine (2 cups per day coffee) for 6 months with no effect, and went back to drinking it. Have not had alcohol for the past 20 months...no effect.
I'm going to stop the caffeine again under the assumption that it might be the culprit and I need to do it longer term for my bladder to heal.

You would need to be much more thorough than that in order for me to offer any possibly valuable response. I would have to know everything you eat and drink each day of every week. For example, from morning to evening, what do you drink? And what are your usual breakfasts, lunches, and dinners? And what else do you ingest regularly?

I’m 19 years old I was experiencing the same problems for months, I use to smoke weed on the regular since 13 but like a month ago I would get a burning feeling either in my penis or under my balls and I’ve been drinking since I could remember but I couldn’t even drink a half a beer with out my penis burning so I STOPPED both even after I masterbate My penis would burn afterwards so I stop doing that as well for the last couple months I was experiencing what I thought was recurring uti because every time I got tested for a std they came back all good I also thought I had aids and that was the worst thing to experience I got tested for that as well and all the test came back good I didn’t have neither an uti ,std,or aids/hiv last week I started using coconut oil and I would rub a small amount of it all over my penis just to cover it and on my Prostate area because I thought I could have prostatis ,since I started using that I haven’t had any penis pain since I use to just have penis pain for no reason at least twice a day and smoking and drinking made it worst now I don’t have them anymore I still haven’t tried to drink any liquor or smoke but I’m going to wait it out and keep using the coconut oil for a few more weeks , I was going to wait to post this til after tried smoking and drinking again but I remembered how bad the pain was for me and all I wanted was some type of relief so I went ahead and made this to try to help some people out , today I masturbated and in months this was the first time my penis wasn’t burning after that’s another reason I decided to make this I hope the coconut oil helps !!
