Today I felt this again after a year, and after reading everyone's comments, I came to a few conclusions of my own. Now, this may or may not make sense to all of you, but it boils down to an acidic diet (excess carbs, e.g. pasta, high sugar drinks of any kind), which irritate the intestinal and urinary system. In my case, this awful diet lead to a UTI a year ago, which was treated with TONS of antibiotics that only killed the microflora in my gut and gave me a series of illnesses, including candida, rheumatoid arthritis, acne, ibs, urticaria, etc etc etc. (I was on antibiotics for a very long time trying to cure myself, then was prescribed steroids). After the antibiotics+steroids did the job, I was left with a ton of illnesses that are all related to the digestive health. I started by curing the candida infection with Pau D'arco, then taking glutamine to health the lining of intestines, then added probiotics and increased my mineral intake (specially iodine and boron). I am a huge fan of Boron, as it naturally removes fluoride from your system and can help with mycoplasma overrun, which a previous comment brought to my attention. Also worth noting that I used to be a huge ibuprofen fan, but recently quit it after realizing that it further irritated my intestinal tract and gave me low absorption (which is why I supplemented vitamins and minerals). A series of supplements and vitamins+minerals tailored to my specific issues put me back on track and I had stopped feeling the burning when drinking alcohol, but today, to my desbelief, I felt the burning in my urethra again. Then I remembered that I had a diet coke for the first time in months (I rarely drink carbonated drinks), and came home, made dinner and had some red wine... then BAM, there it was. The burning again. Interstitial cystitis sounds to me like the urinary tract is irritated, a form of inflamation that is caused by diet and consequence of either a previous uti, an std, and paired with heavy antibiotic use which has left the intestines and urinary tract all irritated and screaming for help. Antibiotics are great at killing, and they do kill everything, including the good guys like acidophilus (good probiotic bacteria in your gut). Try this: Remove sugar from your diet temporarily, heal the gut with aloe vera, slippery elm and glucosamine or bone broth, eat more veggies and less fruits for a while, more protein and less carbs (remove carbs as much as possible for a while), and/or add vitamins and definitely minerals such as boron (or add a multimineral that contains boron, 3 mg at least), and you WILL cease to have the burning, as well as a miriad of other issues. Also try a Kidney/bladder supplement, drink more water and take probiotics. You need to give your body a push when it needs it, but don't become a slave of supplementing. Your diet should provide the nutrients. If you can't due to a stressful life, then take your vitamins + minerals at least. Most foods lack the minerals we need to be healthy. To recap, heal your gut, people. The urinary system is directly related to it, and your whole body would thank you if you just took care of your intestines. You are what you eat; google Barbara O'neill (most brilliant nutritionist alive today IMO), and find her talk on the digestive system on youtube. I am not a health nut, but I was tired and sick of being sick.

I am 16, I know it is illegal for me to drink alcohol but you know, we all do it. I also receive the same burning sensation after mixing different spirits. It mostly happens after having some bourbon standard drinks with vodka standard drinks (I do not buy cheap alcohol so that's not in the picture). I find that if I have a shower and put the tip of my penis under moderately hot water it gives me enough numbing to fall asleep after hoping out. Is there any other ways of controlling the problem?

I know its years years later but i have ecsema, touchin wine was a bad idea. The crazy fire down there seems to be rash, lubricate with something light nd soothing it cools it down. Dont use vaseline or petrolleum products it just makes it worse. Hope this helps for future readers. Just thinkin of any product that would calm a rash down

I will not say my age, but I have a similar problem, except it's usually after a "few" beers, but after drinking I need to urinate, after that I'm rushing to the bathroom every 5 min it seems like, what is this, it rarely happens but when it does I usually don't sleep well.

Hey I have the same problem except its more prominent after drunks see, I had some rather unorthodox procedures carried out to test the situations, it is the acidity of your urine that causes the situation, in essence you are allergic/unable to process the alcohol completely hence the sensation

alcohol contains histamine, especially red wine. If you are sensitive to histamine your body reacts with an allergic reaction like a burning throat, acne also can be a sign for it, sneezing, water eyes, abdominal pain etc.

I really would recommend a blood test where you can check the allergies or intolerances. Or lets say your allergist can check it ;)

I got my informations of a page and they recommend a dietary supplement called Daosin. Maybe you can recherche it online :)

So it only hurts every once and a while. Only when I drink alcohol And have sex OR masterbate. The pn (irritation ) is right at the tip and won't go away for at least an hour. I have to pee sometimes but other times it's just the sensation right after i pee or i just sit and/or stand there and never do.. This has been going on for about ten yrs and comes and goes. Just sneaks up on me at random. But only when I drink and come. WHAT'S GOING ON.

I started having these symptoms about 2 years ago. My best guess is candida or a high bacterial count. I will try this doet for a few weeks to see if it helps. There are lots of articles online about this.

I only get this itchy and burning sensation when I consume alcohol and cocaine. I'm Curious if anyone out there with the same problem has a heightened reaction when consuming alcohol with any drug, both legal and or illegal.

It is cystitis. I have had it all my adult life ( I am in my mid 69's now) and drinking any alcohol at all irritates the bladder and creates urgency and pain. There is nothing you can do about it other than avoiding alcohol.

Drinking lots of water does help in general to neutralize what is going into your bladder.

My issues started at around 28. Every time I had any alcohol, I got an immediate burning in my vagina. It was literally like someone had a burning rod and was holding it against me. At the same time, I had a warmth travel up my body, to my head and then BANG, I would go bright red and start sweating, for around 10 minutes. After this subsided, I could continue drinking without any burning or red face Etc.

I had every procedure, test and scan available and saw an absolute barrage of specialists.Eventually, due to my own persistence, I had a laparoscopy to have a look at my appendix and a few other bits and pieces. Eventually my specialists diagnosed me with Carcinoid Cancer and an unusual syndrome called carcinoid syndrome and I have been dealing with this ever since.

After reading most of these responses, I am not suggesting that this will be the answer for most, if any, people. However, I have been trying to post this on as many message boards as possible, because if I can prevent one person from going through the 7 years of hell that I had, then I will be happy.
