My mother had the ball in her hip replaced about six months ago. She started having a lot of pain in her hip recently and the doctor x-rayed her and said she had calcium deposits. He prescribed therapy for her, but it is not helping. What can be done about this condition other than therapy. She is 71 years old but in good health otherwise. Also, what can be done to stop more deposits from forming? Thank you

I think this is something you should have talked with the surgeon or a doctor before the surgery. These are possible complications.
Sometimes, people who are prone to developing these calcium deposits and even forming a bone around the hip joint, get treatment for this even before the deposits start to form. Some patents are given drugs to prevent these formations straight after the surgery.
Your mother may be experiencing less motion in the hip than normal as well as pain she is already going through. The treatment depends upon age, health, severity of calcium deposits formation. Some people are even treated with radiation, the same king used in cancer patients. Also, another surgery may be performed to remove these calcified tissues that has formed but this is something you need to speak directly to your mother’s doctor. She may not be an appropriate patient for that. The surgery is usually followed by radiation to prevent deposits from forming again.
This leads to stiffness in the hip resulting in much less motion in the hip joint than normal. It also causes pain in the hip joint.

The woman just has calcium deposits! Treat them with EDTA oral chelation and/or Vit K, not radiation. Radiation should not be thrown around like water. It is is not harmless. It causes cancer!!!

SAME PROBLEM WITH MY WIFE, 68, OPERATED 4 YEARS AGO FOR PARTIAL HIP REPLACEMENT. RECENT X-RAY SHOWS CALCIFIED BILATERAL AROUND THE STEM OF THE BALL. PERSISTENT PAINS AND DOLCET PLUS PREGBALIN ARE NOT WORKING WELL.
