Exactly what damage are you doing if you bend over or pass 90 degrees after a hip replacement? Are you "loosening" something and will it tighten back up in time?

Hello,

There's no reason why you can't bend after hip replacement.  You may not have the same range of motion you had before your hip replacement.  Your doctor should have talked to you about allowable range of motion and what kind of movements you can safely make.  You shouldn't be loosening anything as far as that replacement is concerned because if you are it will not tighten back.  You want to be careful bringing your leg out sideways but you should be able to bend over and you shouldn't have any problem walking.  Hip replacement is pretty common these days.  Some athletes have had hip replacements and are able to continue with their sport.
