My wife has been to the gym to lift on a very regular basis for the last few months, but has started to develop callouses. She got a pair of gloves a few weeks ago, but she said that they aren't helping. Are there any other tricks to avoiding this problem?

it's her grip - but if her grip is comfortable to her - then i would let it go - once the callouses harden, she won't know they are there (as long as you don't mind). Tell her not to pick them.
