I just got my period about last year during the summer, and it's irregular (sometimes it's not). I never got cramps during my period, but now I'm feeling sharp pains in the lower part of my stomach (uterus, I think) and is it normal because the sharp pains are short and I just ate. I heard that when a girl gets her period it could take up to three years for it to adjust to the 5 day period, is that true?

I believe that your information is true. I don't know one woman who didn't experience horrific, irregular periods during the first few years. We've all heard the horror stories. You might check with your ob/gyn, however, because todays medical/technology world is so different. There are solutions to make young women more comfortable. If things get really painful and severe, see the doctor. Please keep us updated.
