Hello! My sister has just come back from her doctor. He suspects she has endometriosis and he recommended laparoscopy in order to take a biopsy of the tissue. She is frightened and I am as well. She doesn’t want to do laparoscopy and we hope there is some other way to diagnose it. Can endometriosis be visible on x - ray?

Hello! The only reliable way to definitively diagnose endometriosis is a laparoscopy when a biopsy of the tissue is taken. This is known as "the golden standard". W-ray, ultrasound, MRI scans can’t definitively confirm endometriosis although they can be suggestive of the disease. I know that laparoscopy can be very frustrating for a patient but this is the only reliable way.
