Hello Ladies, I have a question. Can I get pregnant if I have diabetes type 2? I've been trying to get pregnant for about a year and a half and so far no luck. I was wondering if have type 2 was the cause of that. I take good care of myself and manage my sugar levels well. I eat a healthy diet and I exercise regularly. Could it be some other problem. Maybe I'm trying to hard or do you think my husband may have a problem? I just don't know what to make of this. Has anyone out there had this problem. If so, will you share with me what you did about it? Thanks

Hello, I have diabetes type 2 and I had no problem getting pregnant. I don't think having diabetes type 2 would keep you from getting pregnant unless there were other medical conditions and perhaps you don't have you sugar levels under control. You've indicated that your diet is healthy and you exercise regularly. Great! Because, all those things increase the probability you'll get pregnant not only if your diabetic but essentially healthy. It's possible that the problem is on your husband's side. He could have a low sperm count or abnormal flagella so they don't swim very well. There are a number of possibilities. I think if you don't get pregnant soon, you should go to your doctor and bring your husband with you and have a consultation with your doctor. He/she may be able to determine something right then and there and then may be able to refer you to someone who can help you. You might try relaxing and not try so hard. This may be creating undue stress that may be altering you cycle. You have to consider that there are only around 12 hours in the middle of your cycle that you can get pregnant. You need to be there when that happens and sometimes it doesn't come at the same time each month. You can try taking your basal temperature and that can tell you when your ovulating so you know when to try to conceive. Don't get frustrated, keep trying and please relax.
