About six weeks ago I hurt my left knee during my dance lesson, and in order to, somehow, make my pain less severe, my doctor prescribed me Lortab. Today, my injury is almost completely healed, but I occasionally feel a strong burning sensation in my left - knee area ( which is, to be honest, just a slight discomfort, compared to the excruciating pain I had to cope with during the first two weeks of my condition ), which I use as an excuse for taking Lortab this long! I can’t help it - I just can’t get off Lortab! And I don’t know what to do!

Lortab tablets and capsules consist mainly of acetaminophen (Tylenol) and hydrocodone. This medicine is used widely when lessening the pain of moderate or strong intensity is to be accomplished. The problem you are experiencing is by no means a rare one. Using painkillers more frequently than prescribed, prolongation of the period during which the medicine is administered, or, simply, taking larger doses than necessary, can very easily slide into a condition known as physical dependence on a particular opiate (painkillers, such as Lortab, are actually opiates, together with heroin and some other narcotics). This condition occurs due to chemical imbalance in the body of a patient and it needs very serious and thorough treatment. Very often do the physicians lessen, or, simply, overlook the chances of developing a dependency on a particular painkiller while trying to cope with a patient’s problem. You are strongly advised to visit a specialist and collect important data on numerous methods, procedures and treatments for detoxification. This should be your first step in recovering from the state which is very similar to that of a drug - addict!
