can taking methadone be a factor for missed periods?

I'm not sure about methadone being the cause of missed periods especially for 8 yrs however I do know that for myself when I was using street opiates and prescribed pain meds that I didn't get frequent periods. I would go 9 months without getting one...so I would consult your doctor maybe they can perform tests. How old are you? It could be a factor if your in the early menopause years.

Hey there. I have only been taking methadone steady for 3 months (recreationally, unfortunately) but just the same, for the past 3 months, i havent gotten a period. VERY TRUE. It DOES/CAN account for your missed periods. Im only 24, and have always been regular, except for up to this point! And a couple other times in my life, also involving opioids.. Hope this helps!

I'm having the same problem. I'm 33 yrs old and used to be like clockwork every 28 days but now I haven't gotten my cycle for the year and a half I've been on the methadone clinic. I have an appointment today with a doctor so I'm gonna see if they can give us some information about this. Hang in there hope all is well.
