Wow never heard a doc say that b4. Mine encourages smoking so I'm not trying to quit to many things at once. Did hit the jackpot yesterday and picked up my weekly script. Suppose to get 14 a week and the pharmacy gave me two boxes with 60 count. Last week I got 14, this week. 120!

All I can tell people is I'm here looking for smoking and suboxone info because I took sub for the first time today, and felt ok I guess, then a few hrs later I smoked a cig and about three puffs in I started feeling sick. Like alcohol hangover gunna blow chunks feeling sick, including the dizziness. I didn't actually barf but felt like one more puff and I wooda. I guess I'm quitting smoking too because that feeling is so not worth it!

I have been on them for over 4 years, and I have smoked bud, and cigs the whole goddamn time, and I am just fine. Also, you can bang them just fine, because that's how I took them for a good 6 months. The only thing illegal about suboxone is getting them from two different doctors, or getting scripts for opiates on the side. Believe me, I started using them before they were even here in Massachusetts, or regulated the way they are now, and I have had absolutely no problems at all wether I took it under my tongue, or shot it, and have smoked the whole time.

I agree! My story is pretty much the same as yours... You definitely still get the FULL affect..the only thing my doc told me was that it wont process the right way if you smoke while letting the subs dissolve.. Which i just dont do because why take the chance of wasting a whole sub! This doctor is full of it! Do what u please! But i can tell ya, because the subs are an opiat blocker, pills or h will not work or get u high while on a sub.. Good luck with yalls sobriety. ❤

Not really sure I didn't see how old this thread is but what about vaping while I have a suboxone tablet under my tounge would that have any negative impact on the sub??

It can't be lies... I just started taking Suboxone yesterday and Everytime I smoke a cig as of today I throw up. I threw up three times today each time I just finished smoking a cig. So its def not BS

Just to clear up some common misconceptions smoking cigs is fine i did while on suboxone and while going through suboxone withdrawal it actual helps take the edge off. Also smoking weed is also fine to do it actually will help you alot when coming off of Subs and this has been proven in many scientific studies. Smoking weed will help you sleep help with the muscle pain and also the anxiety of going through suboxone withdrawal hell.


I am a bio chemist and an ex opiate addict of over 10 years of abuse. I was on suboxone for 8 months and wuit cold turkey off of 14mg a day suboxone your doc will tell you to taper but that is a lie and it is just so they keep making money off you. Tapering suboxone does not work unless you do a 12 month taper shecdule as even though you are lower the dose the MU receptors are never lowering the level as every day you just fill it uop due to the massive half life of the drug put it this way you are on 14 mg for a week you taper to 12 but the MU receptor is still at 14mg for another 2 - 3 weeks as you are not giving the recptor time to kick the suboxone off the receptor.

Just quit cold turkey you will be sick for 4-5 days max by day 4 or five the receptor is completely empty and your brain starts to produce natural Adrenalin and its natural endorphin again by day 7-8 you will fell well enough to resume normal life but with a very low amount of energy.

I had tried tapering and its way more painful and drawn out than just stopping cold turkey and from the amount and doses of opiates i was taking i should be dead seriously even my doctor doesnt know how im still alive my blood stream was more opiate than blood.

While in WD do not take any opiate and Benzo etc stick to ibprofen and asprin and weed to help you sleep . If you do it with out weed your just making it a little bit more painful than it needs to be and lets face it weed is now legal nearly every where in the world as a pain medication etc.

You can take opiates while taking suboxone. They will help pain as they are supposed to do but you just won't feel the high.

That could not be farther then the truth! It sounds like ur dr is just trying to scare u. I am prescribed subs 8mg 2Xs daily along with Benzo's 1mg 2x's daily. Now just like every doc they ask how much I smile a day but never in my time of being on subs has that ever came up!

Well put. What a stupid piece of sh*t doctor. I had been an opiate abuser for many many years and I smoke while taking my subs. In fact my Marlboro NXT's taste a whole lot better with a sub AND I have been taking subs for about 2 months now and have not had a lapse or worse a relapse on hard opiates yet. It's really a miracle drug if you just stay with it. Doctors in general will tell you not to smoke with your medication as they will do and say just about anything to make you stop smoking. I enjoy it too much to stop though. It may however actually be easier to quit smoking while taking subs since it fights withdrawal, but I don't wanna f**k with that at the moment.
