I am curious if you can get sunburn through glass. I have noticed that my arms are somewhat reddish and it is due to the fact that I drive my car every day about noon for that is when I go to my job and plus I am suppose to go on some trip of about 800km long along with my family in about two days and we are planning on traveling during the day so do you think is it possible to get sunburn through glass? Thanks much!

I suppose you know there are three types of sun rays according to their lengths so there are UVC, UVB and UVA and each of them could cause serious skin damages including skin cancer. But only UVA could pass through glass and it is not like those rays could be causing you sunburn by penetrating the glass but it could cause you reddish or flush skin. And also those sorts of sun rays could make your skin age faster and it also could cause you wrinkles and dryness in one word-photo skin aging. And as for that trip I suppose you have kids and the kids usually sit in the back of the car and that is where the UVA intensity is the highest so it would be wise to consider the possibility of having some sort of auto protection such as plastic interleaf of windshields -that is what I have done- for it is proved that it absorbs UVA radiation very effectively.
