This is the same poster who said their sister in law died from a cat bite. Scare mongering is wrong dude or dudette.

My 2yr old tuxedo cat, who has never even scratched me and so lovely dovely bit my index finger while I was carrying her after holding a stay kitten I took in. She bit and shook her head, the pain was so bad I was afraid to look at it. I ran to the sink and ran cold water on it I cried the pain and throbbing was terrible. I put neosporen all over my hand and wrapped it in gauge I had to hold it up or it was worse and I still kept crying. In morning it was swelled and red. I went to Doctor got a shot in the butt and pills to take at home. She said if it gets worse go to er. By morning my whole hand was swelled and red so I went to er. Spent 4 days in hospital on Iv antibiotics. Each night it would throb so I couldn't sleep so they gave me pain Meds. It's been 2 weeks swelling and redness gone but my finger is still swelled and I can't bend it. I have apt next week for follow up hope I can bend it by then. I'm going to start using Epsom salts to see if that helps. I still can't put my hand down without it throbbing. To everyone who gets bite see a doctor. ASAP

I had the mow procedure done as they thought there was cancer on my leg. This cephalexin 500MG Cap is making my finger get stiff and I can not flex them. At night I rubbedSportscreme on them and kept them warm under the covers. Better, but still ache so I have put more SPORTSCREME on fingers and the plastic gloves that come with Clairal hair color on so that I can type. Anolther prescription that I am allergic too.

You got nibbed by a cat. Had you really got a nasty bite, you would have known wtf people are talking about. It's like a war, like a bullet wound.

This may help someone who had a cat bite. My cat bit me when it got mad on my finger down to the bone. It swelled up didn't think much of it. A couple days later I was sick redness was going up my arm I had a high fever and bad chills even covered up with blankets with foggy headedness. So I went to the emergency room. Long story made short I was in the hospital for 3 or 4 days. A couple nights ago I got bit by a stray cat, on each side of my pointing finger, down to the bone again. It's swollen now, but I haven't had any of the above symptoms, so I'm not worried about it. I soak it in Epson salts, then I pour peroxide over it, then put Neosporin on and cover it with a white sock. Keep your arm raised up or it will swell more. I'm keeping an eye on it though, to see how long it takes for the swelling to go down.

I was bitten by a stray at 12:30, by 2 pm, half of hand swollen. Called doc, had 3:30 appointment. Swelling had reached my wrist. I was put on antibiotics. I soaked my hand, iced my hand, used Tylenol and aleve as recommended by the doc. My daughter used a marker to outline swelling. It had grown significantly by the morning. I went to ER, 3 days in hospital. 2 different IV antibiotics every 6 hours. 2 oral antibiotics for 10 days after leaving.your tetanus was up to date, so no shot and I didn't need rabies shots. My advice, clean it immediately and then go to the doctor. My infection set in quickly, it was painful and I narrowly escaped surgery. There are too many risks of serious complications to wait around.

I was attacked bit by a cat 4 days ago on my lower leg. Day 2 I pushed a lot of green yellow puss out of the top teeth marks now it is swollen again at the newly found lower teeth marks and the top teeth marks are swollen yet again! The entire lower foot is wrapped in red where the cat was hanging on with its paws latched on with its teeth! It hurts so bad! I know I need to go to MD but I keep pushing out the infection myself as much as I can stand the pain as often as I can! Am I making a big mistake?

I've realized that soaking my hands in warm water really helps with the pain. I don't know if this a method that is good for the healing process, but it sure as hell helps with the pain

Go to the ER. This is serious. Cats carry pathogens that can destroy the tendons in yours hands if you don't get antibiotics soon.
