Cayenne pepper is a hot red pepper used for cooking to flavor dishes. The fruits of capsicum species are used to prepare powdered form. The fruits are generally dried and ground to make a powder. A powder or whole form of cayenne is used in cooking spicy hot dishes. It’s medical use is mostly to stimulate digestive system and for the pulmonary system. Active ingredient is capsaicin, which provides relief from pain and itching by affecting sensory nerves. It has temporary effect on stopping neuro transmission and so affect pain signals. Other properties include reducing platelet stickiness and acting as antioxidants.
