Hi. I am a guy 30 years old and my wife has just delivered a baby to this world. He is a nice young boy and he is healthy, but I am concerned a bit. I heard that the normal penis size of a newborn baby is about 2 cm. My son has about 1 cm. Haven't talked to the doctor about it, but he doesn't look that concerned. Will it grow more?
You should talk to his doctor. Maybe he just overlooked the problem. There are conditions that cause small penile length: A webbed penis, a concealed penis and a trapped penis. All of these conditions include normal penis length, even if it doesn't appears so. That is the most likely cause. As for the rarer condition, there is a condition called micropenis. It is treated with hormones (3 month trial of testosterone), and if the baby responds well to treatment, everything is ok. Most of the time, babies respond to the treatment. If the penis doesn't grow, than there is a hard choice of possible gender re-assigning.
