I know how you feel! My 8 year old is on her 6th day post op and we are back out the hoapital, this time due to bleeding. Already been here once because she was dehydrated. Wish it was all over. It's very scary when they bleed. She is always nauseous and so weak. I keep thinking there must be a reason she's not healing well but the doctors don't say mucj.

My son is 6 and had his adenoids removed 5 days ago. I am going through a lot of the same things that you have mentioned. We are not sleeping at night, my son says his jaw hurts and he has lots of head aches. Dr. does not seem to concerned at this point . When does all this get better? I feel so bad for my child and he is so tired during the day becauase he is not sleeping at night.

Day 2 of my 8yr olds tonsillectomy. ... She slept pretty well through the night. I did have to give her pain meds only one time. Today she sounds like she has a horrible cold. She says its hard to breathe. Pain thankfully is pretty under control, although I am using Motrin, Tylenol, and oxycodone. She's pretty hungry and applesauce and puddino are just not doing it. I'm probably going to try some noodles for her. The nurse insisted that I have her on a pain control regimen. She even said to wake her up throughout the night. It seems that the Motrin and Oxycodone are working better than Tylonel.

My 6 and a half year old son had his T and A removed 5 days ago and has been having on and off ear pain for the 3rd day now
! Does anyone know how long this will last? I'm very desperate for some answers because it seems his throat pain has now taken a back seat to this excruciating pain! I can't stand listening to my child suffering any longer!!

Thank you for this more positive story I'm hoping that your advice will help calm me down. I'm really hoping she has an easier time she really is a tropper.

Hi Kate, I am having the exact experience as you. We are on day 6 and it is getting worse. I know your post was a year ago but do you remember what day he started feeling normal/pain subsided? I just said to my mom today, I feel like I'm on newborn schedule again. LOL

My 8 year old daughter had her tonsils and adenoids removed and the turbinates in her nose reduced on December 29th 2016. for the first day she slept for the better part of the day after she returned home, I noticed the last 2 nights that she is experiencing night tremors she's crying in her sleep kicking in her sleep and appears to be in alot of discomfort. I was told that it gets worse before it gets better. Believing God for total healing l.

My 7 year old had the exact same three proceedures. Days 2-5 were very difficult, we kept a humidifier on in sleeping room , seemed to help . We fared better with the antiinflammatory than the tylenol ,ee struggled with the pain management but we set alarms and rotated the pain meds as prescribed and kept a medication time log, the importance of hydration and keeping up with fluid intake is very important. The opiate type pain medication only made my child try to sleep through and this made it more difficult to get the antiinflammatory ( motrin) in on time -as that worked best for the pain control for us anyways. ( the motrin) if they arent able to get enough fluids in, stay in ose contact with physician/nurse/ medical advice team. Dehydration is worst enemy.
Ose ; was a typo , meant to write keep in "close" contact with meducal advice diring entire 10 day recovery period . We saw vast improvement on day 5, then day 6-8 abit tough again as scabs fell away, them day 9,10 began to recover enough to feed oatmeals , soft pasta etc! The motrin liquid burned going down, we were told to avlid milk /dairy during two week recovery but we found that mixibg the motrin liquid with milk made it easier for child to swallow ( used equal parts motrin liquid to milk ) and had large dropper infant medicine feeder to administer motrin. The tylenol that we rotated with we had with a but of water . We used ipad and stories and videos to take child mind off the pain while taking meds. Humidify. Hydrate. Stay alert, watch for any symptoms that concern you, stay in contact with advice nurses and surgery attending practice nurse by phone. .
Best of luck -it gets better . Day 12 wewere great .

This is a horrible process we are going through with my grandson. Day 6 and he is still miserable. Yesterday was a bit better and he is finally starting to drink better. I've never seen a child react this way to tonsillectomy.
