I am a female of almost 53 yrs of age. For some time now i have had very bad diarrhoea. It just does not want to go away. My stools are yellow to very light brown in colour. Has far as i am aware their is no history of bowel cancer in my family. I am very worried and embarressed about going to my doctor. I do not know what to expect when i get there and hate being fiddled about with. I have been on hrt tablets for quiet some time now. The hrt tabs i am on are femoston. I also take acnamino mr capsules (minocycline 100 mg) 1 per day. I take them for a nasal bug i carry which causes me to get repeated boils. I also suffer from arthritis of the joints and also suffer from very badly swallon feet ankles and lower legs. I know the madical term for this problem but can not remember how to spell what its called. Any advice you can give me would be a great help.
I believe that in this case you shouldn't be worried at all about going to your doctor, because the antibiotic you are taking (minocycline) is most probably the cause for the diarrhea. For how long have you been taking this antibiotic? There really is nothing to worry about regarding the doctor's visit - antibiotics cause this kind of reaction to most people who have to use them and the best thing is that stomach problems stop or are at least better managed once your doctor knows that antibiotics are causing these problems.
I have been taking these antibiotics for some yrs now. And i have suffered from diarrhea off and on. But i used to work as a cleaner at a primary school so i put this down to all the tummy bugs that used to go around the school. But the last couple of months or so the diarreah has become much worse. I no longer work has a school cleaner due to other medical conditions i now have. I have booked an appointment to see a female doctor on tuesday next wk about my problem. I just hope that it is down to the antibiotics i am taking and not something far more serious.
