This may be happening due to stress on the lower abdomen, by bending or walking too much, running, lifting heavy objects, etc. I had my appendix removed too 3-4 years ago, as per my knowledge and experiences, if this was an lapratomy, then the internal stiches takes several weeks to months to dissolve completely and heal the operated region. There are I think 3 layers of coverings that they cut through to reach to your appendix/ intestinal region and then the same are stiched once the operation is done. I'm not scaring you but yea it would feel uneasy for some time but eventually it will heal slowly and steadly. I too like others experienced pain post-surgery etc. Don't worry. Take care

Hi, I think this pain maybe due to physical strain, things like running, bending, physical exercise. you need to avoid all this and rest your abdomen so that it can heal efficiently. If the surgery was done properly there shouldnt be any other reason that i'm aware that may cause this problem. I too got my appendix removed, through a lapratomy procedure and it used to hurt while straining my abdomen, but with time it became better, it still pains if i poke my finger on to it !

5 weeks ago I had my appendix removed.  I am still in a lot of pain.  Especially at night when I lie down, and in the morning when I wake up.  (Very had to even sleep anymore because of the pain).    I pull myself out of bed. I can barely breathe and the sharpness of the pain is unbearable to me.  Pain meds do nothing for the pain.  The dr. said it because it is still healing and the gas they use is still working itself out of body.  I am scared to death I will not get better.   I have yet been able to take a deep breath without the pain in my back, chest, shoulder etc...  I am scared my life will not go back to normal.  I read all these complaints about the same thing, and surely the medical field is aware of it.  I rather have had the surgery with a scalpel and took 10 weeks to heal.  I am limited to what I can do because it hurts when I breathe deep.  Hurts when I exercise, hurts lying down, hurts getting up.  There have been a lot of times in the last 5 weeks I break down into tears.  Trying to pretend I don’t feel the pain, but that is a joke too! I can’t handle it anymore.  I have no pain where the incisions are, none at all.  I think the Dr. knows what is going on but can’t do anything.  I had my gall bladder taken out same type of surgery, and I recovered well from that.  I am scared to death I am not going to be able to live a normal life.  I try to eat healthy foods  to avoid flare ups but that doesn’t work.  I try not to look up any information on the internet, because there are more horrific stories then mine with the same type of surgery.  Laparoscopic surgery.  As I type this comment my breathing is shallow.  Please someone tell me what kind of dr. to go to, so I can get help.  I went to a Pulmonary Dr. he was like everything good take anti-inflammatory pills and pain killers.  (Pain killers he prescribed are a joke might as well have giving me kids Tylenol).  If someone can tell me there is hope I would love to hear from them!!  Thank you, for letting me vent.  My wish for all of you is that you heal and the pain never comes back!

How long did it take for the nerve pain to develop? I had an e/r appendectomy and within 2 weeks or so my low back started killing me both sides/right worse than left. I have been basically bed bound for the last month

I'm having a similar issue one month out of surgery. Did you ever figure out what was the matter?

You need blood work done to see if your white blood cell count is up. You could have an infection

Wow, it's been over a year since my operation and I still have pain in my side. Went to ER several times with cat scan and told it was nothing. Maybe I need to get a second opinion as well.

Hi, I had my appendix removed in late April 2014. It took him a while to find it, it was up high and attached to something else too...it wasn't a dangler! Anyway...I was back at full work and playtime in 2 weeks. I hope you feel (or felt) better shortly after your post.

Take care, -titanium
