I drink a lot of booze and I have for a few years now.  I can't stop and I found out that I am diabetic too.  I don't eat a whole lot but I think most of my calories is alcohol.  I just want to know what the consequences of alcohol use in diabetics.  I don't know if it has much of an effective plus I don't know if I can do much about it anyway because I can't quit drinking.  I guess maybe if I know what it does, maybe I can be convinced to quit.  I don't know.  Does anyone have any advice about it?  What can a person do about it?  I am not healthy, I know.  I just not sure whether I can be able to eat the foods I have to eat and cut back on my liquor.  What I don't know is whether I can get any assistance to help me with my habit.  I am an old veteran who started drinking in my army days.  Imagine if I didn't start then, I would be drinking now.  I have no wife or any family to speak of because of this.  Maybe I can piece my life together if I knew how.

Hello, Guest!  Yes, alcohol is a bad thing to endulge in heavily when you are a diabetic.  You are at risk for hyperglycemia or worse yet, hypoglycemia.  It would be a good idea if you could seek out a local AA group in your area.  You can just give it a try.  If it is a good group, you will find support and help with your alcoholism.  You have nothing to lose and much to gain if you do so.  You will actively be getting your life back on track through this simple thing of going to AA.

Are there any AA members out there that also have diabetes?
