I was having similar issues with post nasal drip.  I was also having some irritation in my stomach.  I could not sleep at night and was really losing it always swallowing.  My GI doc prescribed many different acid reducing medications that did not do a thing for me.

Finally I decided to try a different doc and he recommended a breath test to determine if I had a bacterial overgrowth in my small intestine.  Turns out a I did and he told me try the specific carb diet instead of antibiotics.  Sure enough several weeks after being on the diet my throat and stomach issues cleared up.

Hi, I'm from Manchester England, I just stumbled upon your post through trying to figure out a recent build up of mucus in my throat problem. The reason I am replying is that some of the symptoms you describe sound familiar to the ones my mother used to mention, such as her body stiffening up, especially when she tried to rest in bed after a hard days work, this was before she was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid gland for which she is on permanent medication. I was just wondering whether you should consider being tested for this if you haven't already done so. I hope your mystery health problem is diagnosed and treated soon. Thanks.

I hear you. I have exactly the same experience and symptoms as you have.

I got this illness when I went to work for a new company.  The employees claimed the building was sick. I no longer work there, but the symptoms persist. I use the electronic sinus flush from NeilMed soon after I rise in the morning and sometimes again during the day.  The "mucus flus" seems most prevalent right after eating.  I now anticipate the onslaught by taking a cougn drop, which seems to dilute the mucus enough to process (swallow).  The illness is annoying but manageable with this process.

I am telling all of you --- I have had the same thing. I started after I got a fungal lung infection called valley fever. Fungus remains in the system forever unless you kill it. Look for natural anti-fungals.  Natto kinase,  oregano oil, olive leaf... or go on a toxic anti-fungal prescription medication called Diflucan. Just do not stay on it long or it will destroy your liver. I prefer natural remedies and just ordered a very powerful Natto supplement called Arthur Andrew Natto-biotic.  Order it off amazon. It kills fungus. Spendy but I read where it works.. Natto is one of the most potent enzymes in the world and eats up fungus.. I am sick of this mucus trickling down my throat all the time and hacking it up and clearing my throat. I am determined to find something that works! Good luck to you all.

I have the same thing and im tired of it, ive been dealing with it everyday for the past 3 years, just about 4. Its not all the time, but most the time. I have those dark spots under my eyes all the time. Some days after waking up till the afternoon it seems fine, when im not doing anything which involves alot of movement like excersize, everytime it decides to show up, i have to clear it out all the time, then at night it seems to calm down a bit. Every morning i wake up, and its there again! Its been hell to deal with cause activities are not joyable whatsoever, the feeling is so uncomfortable, enough to put me in a bad mood with anxiety cause it feels like my esophagus is compressing. Some ideas to what it is would be appreciated, thanks. Grace and peace.

If you're willing to try anything at this point, try going to a gluten-free diet. After seven years of allergy shots and three sinus surgeries (including a tonsillectomy) didn't cure my chronic symptoms, a co-worker suggested it. I could feel the difference within a few days, but give it an entire week to see if it helps. Amazingly enough I am now able to eat some bread products, but if I eat too many products with gluten, my symptoms always return. Good luck!

No, warm tap water isn't fine in a neti pot. You have to boil the water and let it cool down to warm to make sure there aren't any live organisms in the water. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a consumer warning that improperly using a Neti pot can result in injury or death.

Hi All,

My husband has had the same gagging issues along with reoccurring bladder infections so I am constantly researching online for something to help us get to the root of the problem. Everything points to it being Candida which medical doctors do not recognize or have a clue as to how to cure. They are great at prescribing lots of meds though that are causing others issues. I finally found what may be a source for treating Candida and next thing is to convince hubby to try. He has tried so many things herbal and pharmaceutical and is getting resistant to antibiotics now which scares me! He has finally agreed to have a blood test to determine if in fact there is a fungal issue. Any way you need to Google this to see what I am talking about. LUFENURON.

I have had the same thing for atleast 2 years it drove me crazy!!I went to the doctor and they had no clue what I was talking about as if I was going crazy....its worse when I sleep at night but can feel it all the time. I worked at a doctors office and I told one of the PA's and he did a nasal faringeal swab and sent it to the lab, I actually had an infection that was growing and it was resistant to a lot of antibiotics. I eventually took a doxycycline that got rid of it!!! There is hope!! make your doctor swab and send it out!!

Try fennel tea - it is the only thing that will calm it for me. It tastes awful (like licorice) but it cuts the phlegm.

Do you still have the burning in your stomach? I had that and most doctors don't know that most of the time its some kind of Candida in the stomach. I finally found a way to cure that...not from Drs but from research on internet. I had to take antibiotics with any anti-acid medication and it cleared right up. I hope this helps some.

Suffering from the same thing, I too, went on a mission to find an answer. I believe the initial relief came using the Nedi pot with distilled water with about 1/8 tsp of distilled vinegar. I did that once a day for two days. That process emerged some black specks from thee drainage water, (Be aware...too much vinegar will make your nose burn like crazy) Then for one week, use the Nedi pot three times with a concoction of 1 tsp kosher salt, pinch of baking soda, and DISTILLED WATER. The next three weeks, reduce to using the Nedi pot twice weekly. After that, use once weekly, or less, if relieff is not needed. WARNING...DO NOT USE NEDI POT EVERY DAY. PROLONGED EXCESSIVE USE CAN PROMOTE OTHER NASAL PROBLEMS In addition to the Nedi pot, I have a daily regimen of drinking hot green tea with lemon juice, maybe about 1 tsp per cup, or just hot lemon juice water, both sweetened with Now brand organic stevia. Those concoctions make up most, if not all, of my daily fluid intake of about 100+ ounces. This keeps my mouth and throat rinsed well. My white plastic jug is spotless on the inside so my throat must be pretty close to the same cleanliness. I have also cut out most of the gluten from my diet and try to eat healthy. I am an admitted sugar and chocoholic. I also found that i am allergic to pet dander, dust mites, and a host of other pollen allergens. I keep my environment as free of irritants as I can. I take singulair for the developed asthma and loratadine (Clairiton) for the allergies. Nonetheless, if i go into a bar or restaurant with a lot of dust in carpets or on floors, or if their air filter on the furnace is dirty, my sinuses begin to run and i begin to cough. Nothing will stop my body from reacting to that short of a mask. Apart from the events mentioned above, I have rest. Rarely do i feel the need to clear my throat. If i expose myself to some known allergen, I use the Nedi pot that evening. Other than that, i may use the Nedi pot once or twice monthly, just to wash out incidentals. Hope this helps some of you.
