Hi I'm a 23 year old female and a few months back I was feeling constantly nauseous and off my food as a result, I woke up one morning with a chronic pain in my side and went to the doctor who examined me and took blood tests. The pain disappeared but the nausea persisted and she told me it was probably just a virus and gave me anti-nausea tablets which didnt work. The symptoms eventually stopped a couple of weeks later and I have been fine since. Until last week when the nausea and appetite loss returned. It seems o get worse as the day goes on especially when I do get hungry but I have no desire to eat even when I feel hungry because of the nausea. I havent actually thrown up but its something I have only done a handful of times in my life anyway. I am 100% not pregnant an have had 2 sets of blood tests recently which have come up clear. Any suggestions greatly appreciated as its driving me mad! Also I seem to be constantly tired these last few weeks too but I dont know if its linked.

It's not wonder that you are constantly tired if you cannot eat and feel nauseous all the time, you simply are not getting enough nutrients for your body to function properly. Only the blood tests obviously are not enough - you will need to have more tests done to see what exactly is going on with your digestive system. Where is the pain located? Is it in lower or in upper abdomen? Do these symptoms get worse during the day or are they constantly there?

hey thanks for the reply, well as much as I dont want to eat i am making a conscious effort to, especially to eat fruit and veg. The pain isnt there anymore its just the nausea now and its on and off, some days are worse than others really. The tiredness is the worst this week but the previous week it was the nausea. Its really strange and I know a doctor is just going to tell me what I was told last time which is that i have a virus, in otherwords they have no idea.

I forgot to ask, which medication you were given? And this time I think they will not be as quick to dismiss this as a viral infection simply because it has come back again. However, there are some bacteria, like H. Pylori which are very common and they usually don't cause any symptoms even though like 80 percent people have them, but when it does become active it causes exactly the symptoms like the one you have experienced because it completely changes acidity of your stomach. It is definitely treatable, but you need to make the appointment and make the decisive step.
