I had this happen and once I gave up everything with Splenda in it, it just stopped. Only took a couple of days for it to completely go away.  It took years of using Splenda for it to happen in the first place.  Has never returned.

This could well be your body detoxifying from the overload of sugars that accumulate in the body through the modern day high carbohydrate diet, where everything that is a carbohydrate turns to sugar in the body. Hence the epidemic of diabetes. Better to stay on low carb, high fat diet. Drink more water, to help body detoxify. I recommend a book called Trick and Treat by a Barry Groves, who has spent over fifty years studying the human diet from the arctic to the tropics covering millenia. A finer book on nutrition and health I could not recommmend. An important point in all of this; is to eat good food, preferably organic, drink filtered water, the need to know where your food and your water comes from, and what is in them, is very important in improving ones health.

I have had a sweet taste in my mouth for a few weeks into months now. I used to have a bitter taste then I started complying with medication I received for a neurological condition, and the taste changed from bitter to sweet, but is equally concerning and annoying. I have decided to get an RBG done, as I figure it could be diabetes (scary), but have not yet done so. Will do so in the coming week and report the findings.

I don't use any Aspartame or eat anything with artificial sweeteners. So not every case is caused by Aspartame.

Really, I started having this problem about two weeks ago. I have been around a/c units lately and for the first time this year. I haven't been eating as well as I should, so I was getting scared. Time to change both.

Thank you for your post/reply. This is the most comprehensive response I have found to date for the "sweetness in the mouth" issue. I know that I am not diabetic, but I now recognize that I might be dehydrated and that is causing the symptom. I will definitely make a concerted effort to up my water intake. Thank you again!

I experienced a constant sweet taste in my mouth for a couple days and was even after I ate salty pistachios. I"ve never experience anything like this before. I sought the lord about it and he gave me revelation chapter 10 and Ezekiel chater 3 . Read the chapters before and after to get the full picture. This was a word from God to me and perhaps for some of you. God is showing me what he is about to do. Amen.

There was a sweetness in my mouth prior to and after eating salty pistachios. (It never left) I actually tried to see if it would go away by eating something salty. I know the word of Godd says Taste and see that the Lord is good ps. 34:8  God has put his words in my mouth and his words are he is sweeter than the honey in the honeycomb ps. 119:103

If you have a constant sweet taste in your mouth, it’s possible you have taste impairment, meaning there’s a problem with your ability to taste. There are many reasons for taste impairment, including a nasal infection, cold, or flu. It could also be related to an ear infection, vitamin B12 or zinc deficiency, swollen gums, certain medications you are taking, a side effect of smoking pipes, exposure to some chemicals (such as insecticides), or dental problems. If the taste disorder is related to your dental hygiene or care, your dentist can diagnose the problem. Otherwise you might want to see your doctor. An otolaryngologist, also known as an ear, nose, and throat doctor, would be a good specialist to consult about taste impairment problems, such as a constant sweet taste in your mouth.

In summary: try consuming more yoghurt, especially if you've had "V&Ds" (vomiting and diarrhoea).

My sweet taste started at the same time as some infection I contracted which just left me feeling a bit weak for about a month, with runny stools, if not quite diarrhoea.

After confirming my bloods were not showing diabetes, a second visit to the doctor (a different one) and it was suggested that the original infection might have left my intestines deficient in one or more essential gut bacteria, such an imbalance can affect taste, and to restore the missing bacteria, I could try taking (without wanting to advertise) Activia, or something like it.  This might prevent the sweet taste.

I cannot say for certain that this has worked as the sweet taste now comes and goes, but it is definitely worth a try as I think it might have made a difference.  I'm just eating more yoghurt than I normally would, and drinking more milk (I don't know if the bacteria are in milk, but I used to drink an awful lot more milk than I have been).

Hi I ate a cookie with Stevia- an natural sugar replacement - 2 days ago and cant get the taste out of my mouth, but is has made anything with sugar or flour taste sweeter, and fruit seems unpalatable. I am gonna cut all sugars including fuctose, honey and everything with sugar added (most processed foods). I have had enough. I was in China for a month recently and the food is so much more savory, even as a vegetarian, great flavours- bitter and sour- not just sweet!
