Could be a sinus infection. I had the sweet taste for almost 2 weeks and finally went to MD and it was a sinus infection. Got antibiotics and now it's gone.

I drank aspartame in Diet Pepsi four years. I never had a sweet taste in my mouth. But now diet Pepsi has changed to sucralose. Now I have a sweet taste in my mouth all day and all night. And in my throat. Obviously, different people react differently to different sweeteners.

For me I have found that Citrus causes this taste. I had started having warm lemon water on a morning and then it started. Took ages to pin point it. And today I ate a kiwi and it came back. Read up on alkaline and acidity on the pH scale in the mouth for more info.

I have had exactly the same problem since I started the No Carb Diet; never experienced it before, so I am hoping that now I have stopped this diet, it will resolve itself. I don't have any symptoms to point to being a diabetic issue, so interested to read you post.

I posted on this topic what over a year ago now? My 'sweet' taste has become just a 'taste' which varies depending on what I eat and started a little under 2 years ago after an illness.

My previous post suggested (after my doc suggested) that it was a gut/bacteria imbalance which might be addressed by consuming plenty of yoghourt (actimel/activia/LONGLEY FARM/etc).

On the two occasions I have made a determined effort to consume lots of yoghourt the taste has been stronger than ever at the end of it.

My current theory is that garlic (GARLIC!) is the cause, but garlic is SOOOOOO difficult to avoid (it is even in some dry roasted peanuts, for example) that I have yet to prove this theory, and don't really want to prove this theory 'cos getting by without garlic is tantamount to punishment by [non-existent] god.

If it turns out *not* to be diet-related, then it must be a persistant virus/infection of some description which comes in waves. (Is my only other theory.)

In conclusion: Other ideas? See above. Advice? it's not killing you or disabling you, but I reckon you'll have it for a long time, so enjoy life and get used to it...

Oh. Tonic seems to help combat the taste for a while, especially when served with gin & a slice of lemon! (This mode of application also helps extend the length of time over which the consumption of the tonic persists...!)

Have you not read all the posts?!?! Nobody knows!!! I'm homing in on a few things that seem to make it worse than others. I last suggested garlic, but I take that back. Houmous seems to cause it. The lentil-based soup I had on Sunday (it's now Wednesday and the taste has alleviated if not completely disappeared) seemed to cause it (I have had previous lentil-based experiences of the taste coming some hours after). But chickpeas themselves and lentils themselves, on their own, DON'T seem to cause it. I think it's a combination of ingredients maybe, or cooked in a particular way.

WE CAN'T HELP. Accept it and analyse your own diet to see what causes it, if indeed it is diet related. It might not be....

Try cutting out dairy for a few weeks.
Take 1tbsp of apple cider vinegar in a tumbler of water morning and evening.
You may find this will help.
