I did not recieve my last deproperva injection as my husband and I would like to have a baby, and understand that it can take some time to concieve after stopping deproperva usage. This is the second time I have been off of it, the last time I experienced continuous bleeding that I could not deal with at the time and so I took one more shot, before deciding to quit again. This time the bleeding is quite minimal, lasting at most 4 days, however I am experiencing this bleeding exactly every nine days (from when it last started). This time around it will have only lasted three days, and is considerably lighter than the previous occurance, so it might be slowing down/evening out. Is it normal to experience such bleeding? I did not spot at all while on the shot, and my periods disappeared immediately after having been on it. If this is normal, when can I expect my cycle to return to normal? Before the shot my periods were always exactly a month apart.
Hi

Don't worry too much. I was on depro and my periods stopped after about a month. However, when I stopped taking it my body went crazy and my periods were unpredictable and crazy! My experience was that my body was readjusting. The drug is not completely out of your system yet. I don't believe this should go on for more than a couple of months, but every woman is different. Your physical health and stats will make a difference too. However, your gynecologist can answer specific questions about you, because he/she knows your history and the drug. I hope my experience puts your mind at ease....Good luck with the baby plans...Have you checked with any of your associates who may have taken the drug? What were their experiences?

No need to concern yourself as it does take time for your system to get back to normal after going off the birth control. It can takes months. It took me nearly a year to get back to a normal cycle. Every person is different and respond uniquely to the medication. It is contingent upon how long you were on the birth control and how long you have been off. I have a friend who got pregnant nearly a month after going off of long-term birth control use, yet it has taken others a year or more. Again, everyone is different.

If you are concerned in the least bit, it is wise to seek some advice from your gynecologist or OB. Best of luck to you.

Hi:
I hope that your periods are settling down now. If not, it's still early after the depo shots. I hope that you are feeling better. Perhaps you are very fortunate and you are pregnant now. Either way, we'd like to know how you are doing. I know that the post-depo experience can be horrible. That is why your experience is important to us. If you are surviving it and became pregnant shortly there after, we'd like to know. Please update us on your condition. I hope that all is well with you.
