I as well am experiencing these Charlie horses .
I had a cortisone injection in my shoulder and am now having cramps and spasms in my arm and hand. Mainly at night in the daytime also. I'm so uncomfortable I can't sleep.
I will try the potassium. Thanks
Yes! After each injection, about a week later, I get terrible calf, foot, toe cramps. My tendon on the top of my foot will cramp terribly. I have had several, and went 3 years without one, had the injection over a week ago and they started a week later.
I get them regardless if I do the needle shot or the sonogram. No difference. and yes, also makes me feel like I have a mild bladder infection.
I agree with you 3 weeks ago was my second time getting the shots in my knees and I just realized that the first time I got them on 2016 I started getting spasms often sometime in both legs at the same time it so painful, I canthink sleep because I stretch a lot and I jump.out my sleep screaming from the pain I have not found a solution but no more shots for me smh
Absolutly...i been getting themeach time now and they don't stop..in my one calf on left..i got one 3 days and the pain is still there..going to slow way down on how often i get them...that is if i ever do again...that stuff never leaves your body no whete for it to flush out Not good to to get more than 3 a year i had 4 within 3 mths.BIGGER
2 weeks ago I had 2 Cortison shots one in each hip for Bursitis.
48 hours following I had a very bad spasm in my right calve muscle ( I have never experienced a leg cramp so intense and I have had many over the years, this was like my muscle went into a knot) immediately following it went to my big toe and it bent and stayed like that for about a minute, I was screaming in pain. My calves were sore after that keeping me up at night. I called my Doctor and he told me to start taking double doses of Calcium / Magnesium. 2 weeks went by and they were getting worse keeping me up at night with the constant pain in my calves, I was also experiencing irregular heart rhythms, so early last Sunday Morning I went to Emerge thinking I may have a blood clot. They ruled this out and did a blood test to see if I had a heart attack, and told me to go back to my family Doctor for more testing. My Doctor does not believe these muscle spasms are caused by the Cortisone and did blood work that showed my Vitamin D levels were very low and told me to take 2000 IU per day, as that was why the Calcium /Magnesium was not being absorbed properly. He also prescribed Quinine for the muscle cramps. I was afraid to start taking this after reading the side effects, but the pain was getting worse, not better, so I have been taking them for 3 days now, following a very bad cramp that has left me limping in pain. It is getting worse not better, I am so tired from the pain keeping me up most of the night. I am also taking a Multivitamin/mineral and Trace Minerals, along with my other prescribed Anti-inflammatory, and rosuvastatin.
Help!

Dont know if it'll help but i too got cortazone shot in right knee for osteoarthritis. It worked wonders for me on basketball court but wicket leg cramps in bed. I thought it was my cholesterol med but now i know it must be the shot. I will try over the counter magnesium supplement which doctor recommended if cramps were from the med.
I have posted already on here regarding the severe muscles spasms, cramping and pain, within 48 hours of having Cortisone injected in both my hips.
If you are having the same reaction, go to your pharmacist or print of a report to file with Health Canada in my case or your Health Authority. The manufacturer of the drug is the same one doing the reporting of the side effects of the drug, so it is very important for everyone who is experiencing this to take the time and report it so they can go back to the Manufacturer with enough data to have them record these side effects.

I have the same question. I had injections in both knees a month ago and a ultrasound guided injection in my left hip joint one week ago. I have had muscle aches in both legs from the knees down mainly and it is non stop for the past week.
I'm wide awake...my entire body is sooooooo achy after a cortisone shot I got today in my shoulder. Oh my gosh I'm so miserable. How am I supposed to function at work tomorrow with no sleep?! my shoulder is in worse pain now and my calves and feet are aching and cramping so bad!! wondering if I should ice or not??? literally every muscle on my body aches.
I had cortisone n lidocaine trigger point injections in my shoulder n upper back 10 days ago on Tuesday n I got so, so much worse in those areas plus my knees n legs n now every day or so something else also hurts very bad. Yesterday pain went around to other side of neck n upper chest too. I finally called P.S. on Fri cause I've had these injection atleast dozen or more times over last 10 years n this never happened before she said I needed to see surgeon sooner than later about my cervical herniated discs. So I'm guessing u probably have at least one too. I had no idea neck discs effect knees n legs!
