Are there any cosmetic treatments available for longitudinal melanonychia (i.e. dark pigmented bands) of the nails? From what I've been reading it's a fairly common condition among dark-skinned individuals, and I've read about HOW it is diagnosed and so on, but I've not been able to find anything about options to disguise the condition cosmetically, or in fact anything about treatment that might actually reduce the pigmentation in the nails. Something like a nail bleach comes to mind, but since the dark bands run throughout the thicknesss of the nail (and just superficially), I don't think that this would effective.
Obviously opaque nail-polish is a simple solution, but that's only feasible for women.
Thanks. Appreciate any advice.

Hello there,
Unfortunately I don’t have an answer. I was searching the net but the information which I managed to find is related to the chemotherapy and melanoma. Basically is you are suffering from longitudinal Melanonychia (the hyperpigmentation of the skin and nails) induced by chemotherapy the treatment is that this is reversible. So once you stop with chemo the condition will be gone as well.
I am not sure if this is helpful at all to you but I sincerely hope that by now you have solved your problem and you have found the right way to treat it. keep us posted if you have solution because maybe someone else will need an answer.
