Firefighter Dan - I sincerely appreciate your logical approach in asking why people would chemically mix an AD with a depressant. Because this is not a simple issue and the problems are laced with a myriad of complexities that all seem to be beyond your experiences, I am curious as to why you are posting your question here in the first place.
Do you know much about chronic pain, for example? And how alcohol helps with pain? And how the nature of chronic pain over time causes deep depression? This is just one scenario.
"Whatever gets you through the night...it's alright, it's alright." Lyrics by John Lennon. Maybe not a long-term answer but even so, I don't get why you're weighing in here if you can't relate. Or as the previous post mentions, "give us input when you've been there yourself." Enough said.

If you have to take a breath test after you have been drinking, can cymbalta raise your reading?

Thx for your message. I have similar things happen while taking cymbalta and drinking.alcohol. I've been on cymbalta 2 months. Last night my behavior landed me in the hospital with major panic, hysteria , anxiety and huge personality changes. Filled with regret and shame at this point. Changes are necessary for this to never happen again.

I see alot on here that people are blaming Cymbalta for their increased alcohol intake, and I get it. But I think from my standpoint, I need to be cognizant enough that this could be an issue and just not drink. The mixture is horrible for your physical and mental well being. I just had a really terrible blackout this weekend and I don't blame the cymbalta. I blame myself for not realizing that I need to stop drinking, especially since I take cymbalta. Good luck to you all.

Well said!!! I am going to stop drinking. I don’t think there is any question. Stop drinking and let the meds do what they're supposed to do and see what the possibilities are from there.
