I am/was a huge pot user. Roughly anywere from a 8th to a qtr a day of the best crippy in town. I have tried quiting many many times. Even made it 6months but 3 were in locked down rehab. The worst is the horrible stomach pains, it feels like i'm being shivved in the stomach. I have literally screamed out in the pain, this doesn't soound right to many. They tell me weed is mentally addictive only not physically. But right now I am out of my home town for 10days so i decided to not bring any and lets do the cold turkey quit, because I know no one here and no dealers so i couldn't get even if i wanted to.  Its only day 3 Ive lost 9 lbs already and only running on 3-5hrs of sleep. I feel like im going crazy. I have done roxys for a long time and cut them cold turkey easy awhile ago, yet this weed withdrawal is like hell on earth. The sight of food disgusts me and the second it touches my tongue it makes me nasuea'd and extremely in pain. But im in pain constantly, only thing that helps is a hot bath but that only helps for 30mins. So Ive gotten ensure to counter the food and nutrition loss but please can't anyone help me? The sleepless nights and pools of sweat when i try to sleep are driving me insane. I feel like if i died and went to hell I'd wake up back in my bed living through this forever. Please Anything over the counter in combination with anything else helps? Please anything will help!

Hi Jay

I know exactly how you feel, for me the stomach pain was the biggest problem in quitting pot.

I started this thread a couple of years ago. And while i did smoke occasionally since then, i feel as though i have control over it and I'm not addicted anymore.

If you read my earlier posts there are a few ideas on how to overcome the stomach pains. However I did not use any over the counter drugs or medicine.

Everyone is different so I can only give you some pointers, you will have to work out what works for you.

1. Eat what you can, don't eat anything that will make you feel sick.

For me that was salad, raw vegetables and fruit. Cantelope/Rock Melon helped a lot.

2. I saw a chinese herbalist. This was good for me. But I can't guarantee it will work for you.

3. Take the time to quit.

You may have work or other commitments. It took me 2 weeks of doing nothing and just resting and not being around weed or people who smoked. In fact not being near any people is good.

4. Exercise

This can help you sweat and help you rest.

It's really hard at the start. You can try cold turkey, or maybe just smoke less and less over a period of time. I've done it both ways. It was a long process for me. I've quit and started again maybe 6 or 7 times.

Best of luck and just keep at it. Don't give up on giving up

smoking joints as a way off getting off weed is a shocking idea to be putting in peoples heads , tests have been done and there is very few bad side effects from smoking weed health wise tho tobacco is a proven killer also there is no evidence that weed is addictive at all it is the routine that may be addictive not the substance where as there is things like nicotine in tobacco to get you hooked this advice is terrible people would be better buying a vapouriser which makes smokeing weed as safe as it can be

actually there IS evidence that pot is physically addictive, and tapering off is what WORKED for me and many others, and btw smoking from a vaporizer wont make any difference AT ALL, thats just a gimmick to get people to buy vaporizers...jeez people...

I am on day 10 clean and up till today my appetite was almost non existent.  I noticed something, the past years I been smoking every day I never really worked out at all or took vitamins. I have a heavy bag and hit it daily but cardio is not what im talking about. I started working out today for first time in long time and I will tell you, I feel great! I took 2 multivitamins today (Opti-Men like the best u can get) and did a relatively medium'ish weights(don't want to overdue it on first time back) workout and I feel my mood has and well being has improved already. For my personally smoking all day I was always sluggish and not lifting weights made it pretty bad. The first 9 days even if something was funny I couldn't even laugh, just miserable. I was laughing my ass off today. I think thats the key. If you dedicate yourself to being in shape and healthy(I know its hard at first) you won't feel the withdraw anymore. I still do crav weed though, i love the stuff and might possibly go back to it in the future but I am making sure I do what I NEED to do first and weed second fiddle.

What can i do to be more supportive? Please help.

My story is much like many of you. Exept one small thing, I've only been smoking for a month. Look, to anyone thinking of starting smoking, or you guys who just want to "try it once" your in for more than you think. I smoked pot for the first time a month ago with some friends. I told them I wanted to try it so they went and bought $20 worth, and rolled up a blunt for me. I had almost the entire thing by myself in about 5 minutes. I was fine for about 3 seconds when *boom* it hit me like a brick wall; I was stoned out of my mind. I had no idea what I was doing, where I was etc.. It was like I was smoking k2 for my first time (wich I did about a week later..)

Anyways, end of story.. Onto my pot addiction and withdrawl. Like I said before, if your looking to just try it once think long and hard. Curiosity got the best of me. I couldn't help but sneak in the garage and light up some of my fathers good weed after that. Anyways, ive been smoking for about a month now.. My dad doesn't usually have too much weed, so I frequently buy my own every few days (a 30 dollar bag can last me up to 2 days) so I smoke roughly 3 times a day.

All sounds normal, I guess. But before all this marijuana, I was someone totally different. I was about 175 lbs.. Ripped as hell. Competes as a boxer, and amateur cage fighter (MMA).

Now, due to all the throwing up from withdrawl, I weigh 161 lbs. I haven't been to practice in over a month. My life is completely backwards, I'm a completely different person. I just look at myself everyday and wonder what the hell happened. Weed really will take over your life, spending every last dollar and every last bit of effort/everything you have goes into getting that next little baggie.

Not sure about you guys but I've decided to put a stop to all this.. Its 6:22 AM here in New York, I haven't smoked since roughly this same time yesterday morning. I've been up the entire night reading about how to quit marijuana. It really does take over.. Just watch out, anyone looking to get into it.

How does smoking joints make a person become addicted to cigarettes?

I have a major issue with quitting, I get too aggressive with everyone around me. Iv'e been to prison 3 time's now because I have never been able to maintain a moderate level of emotion. It's not something that I can control and I begged for something that would help but the only thing that really helps is the people that never give up on you. I wish everyone the best.

Our personalities for being an addict make us great people. Strong people. Youll notice that in your friends and loved ones who arent really substance abusers. We have a completely different mind set of our own. We want to do things our way. We wont listen to anyone if it gets in the way of what we want. On top of everything....We will do whatever it takes to get the thing(drug) we want most and still survive. Well..if you choose to survive.

But when you take that energy and put it into something productive? Youre limitless. We starve for intense situations, we are curious and just want to expierence that HIGH feeling in everything we do. Which we can and it doesnt involve any type of substance at all.

If youre in a career that doesnt really care  and not hurting anyone physically or emotionally. Then keep doing what youre doing. why not?

But to those who use the last $20 in their bank account to buy a gram till next pay check and then wind up smoking their ashes or scraping that bit of resin off your tools. Its time to stop.

I keep going. Its time to deal with things on your own rather than using something else to help you get by. Dont make it a cructh to help carry your problems. Its a vice holding you back.

But to those who you know grow sell and make a living off it. Go for it!

i have several friends who grow and sell(legallly!!) and have a great life.

But others never learn moderation( like me) and thats a big necessity.

to those like me;

if you want to quit you will for you. REHAB WONT WORK. RELATIONSHIPS WONT WORK.( "I'll quit for you baby," BS when that relationship doesnt work i guarantee a relapse.) PROCRASTINATION,  DEFINITELY NOT!

Its your choice. Realize youre a better person without fire and clouds holding you back.

I hope for you brother. You wake up one day a better person.

let me know if im wrong in any way. Or if you need help. Shoot i could have used someone to talk to about quitting. Im just stubborn like most of you all.
