I too have said symptoms. I'm actually 1 month post a pulmonary embolism and take Warfarin. 2 days ago I felt a sore throat accumulating, later on with the sensation that something was stuck in my throat. I'd say at that moment pain swallowing was 7/10. In the morning I felt my ear throbbing and suffered with a pounding headache. With the side effects from taking Warfarin, chronic sore throat and pain in the ear and head, I decided to go see an emergency GP. He checked my throat and said it looks extremely inflamed, but your glands aren't swollen. Due to being on Warfarin he was unable to prescribe me any antibiotics and warned me away from iberprofen. He presricbed co-codamol 30/500mg then advised to come back in two days. Well, since yesterday morning and now, I've had very little sleep, now my jaw hurts when speaking (which is painful) ear and head pounding with only a few moments of ahhhhhhh, then BOOM, pain, then the sore throat - all of which is occurring on my left handside. Pain drinking water is 10/10! I'm considering going back today, even though I have an appointment with my own GP on Monday. I'm already short of breath from the P.E, this is just making matters worse! When I was 18, I'm 34 now, I had glandular fever, so I'm pretty sure he mentioned my GP will run further tests!! Extremely frustrating......... I hope you all are feeling much better.

I can tell you that if the pain started in your mouth first that its either your teeth or you have an infection in your jaw, more likely your jaw if you have broken it before. You can fix the tooth issue by cleaning more with tooth paste and an antiseptic mouth wash. I recommend getting an electric tooth brush it will really help with the cleaning. If your jaw is infected you'll need medical attention. You'll also want to this avoid anything hot instead use cold to help soothe your pain and it could be a cyst. Heat is bad for cysts. If you want to avoid a doctor bill a cyst is easy to care for just have to wait it out and deal with the pain. If it started in your throat than you have a virus. You'll want to get an anti-inflammatory to reduce the swelling of your glands and nodes. There are herbal and natural ones you can use if you can't afford prescriptions. Such as garlic, honey,  red onion, salmon... I normally, when I start to feel my nodes swelling, take a garlic pill and chew a vitamin C tab every morning until I feel better. Usually in a few days with very little to no swelling and pain. Basically you want to increase your vitamin D and/or your Omega 3 intake. It'll take much longer if you are doing just the natural way with a full blown swelling of your glands. You can combine these with what your doctor gives you to help it along, usually it'll go much faster that way.

Thanks for your reply. I went back this morning as the pain became too much. They kept me in to monitor me for a couple of hours! Attempted to drink water through a straw, very very very painful. The Dr was surprised that the Dr didn't prescribe anti-biotics yesterday! At first I was told it could be a cyst on my left tonsil - turns out it's just a nasty infection, that spread to my ear, jaw etc. I can't take any anti-inflamitry due to my warfarin intake, I was prescribed a liquid penacilin. Haven't eaten in two days, attempting water the best I can, then when able to, get on the soups!

Rinsing with Hydrogen Peroxide (the brown bottle stuff) often helps with the toothache infections.  It really doesn't have a taste, just a strange AFTERtaste. Don't swish the liquid around, rather, just let it sit in your mouth concetrating on the problem areas, it will naturally foam on its own.  You might want to spit and do this three or four times, then thoroughly rinse.  I've found it is one of the only remedies that really gets in there and kills that bacteria.  Also, because of the way everything in your sinus cavities connects, quite often just taking a couple of benadryl will help WONDERS with the kind of toothaches that make your ear throb.  I know it sounds crazy, but if nothing else has worked yet, just try it.  Push come to shove, a doubleshot of whiskey will do the trick for a few hours as well: let it sit on the infected area for a min, swish it around and then swallow.  (This solution may not be best recommended for you however because alcohol is probably not the most ideal thing for an infection, but it sure takes the pain away!)

I had similar symptoms, pain in left side of throat, under my left tonsil area.  The gland felt swollen.  The pain became unbearable after a few days, it felt as if I were swallowing glass.  Pain was worse when I ate, and began to radiate to my left ear and jaw.  Due to multiple Ibuprofen doing nothing (and this usually works for any type of pain I have) I went to a general doc.  Useless.  Went to an ENT doc...immediately diagnosed a blocked salivary gland, and gave me anti-biotic and NSAID pain killer.  I was told to suck on lemon or tart hard sweets to help activate saliva.  Warm beverages helped, cold beverages and all food hurt.

Be careful and see doctor right away. My friend had all the same symptoms, first they said it was mono, then strep, then laryngitis - all negative. Turns our she had Lymphoma - cancer of your lymph nodes. See doctor right away - and if symptoms persist, go back to your doctor and insist on further investigation to solve your problem!
