There is no single correct answer for your question. How much sugar, of carbohydrate you can consume depends on several factors;

1. How advanced is your type 2 diabetes?
2. Are you sedentary or active?
3. How active?
4. Are you taking any medications that might affect your metabolism of carbohydrate?
5. How old are you? Age can effect effeciency of matabolism of carbohydrates.
6. Are you talking about pure sugar, simple carbohydrates, or complex carbohydrates?
7. What do you eat? Well balanced meals? High in fiber? Complex or simple carbohydrates?

There are other factors that are not listed. Basicly, you need to eat a balanced diet high in complex carbohydrates and fiber, exercise daily if possible, get plenty of rest and drink adequate fluids during the day.

I would also advise you get a glucose monitor at the drug store and monitor your blood sugar daily. I measure mine in the morning first thing before eating anything. Normal blood sugar should be below 100. I manage to keep mine under 170 most of the time with an running 4 week average of 150. Yes, that is above the maximum, but it is not bad considering I don't take any medcations for diabetes.
