Is it true what they say about the possible link between Dilantin and osteoporosis? What do you think about that, is there any truth in those stories? I ask this because of my concern for my sister who uses Dilantin for her epilepsy problem. And if Diilantin will cause another big problem, then it has to be eliminated from her therapy. Do you agree?
I am actually certain that those stories are facts, proven ones and therefore I would vote for Dilantin to be excluded form the treatment. And also, there is the problem with the calcium absorption which means that Dilantin/calcium supplement combination will not work at all. And the only good thing here is the fact that the intake of Dilantin had to be a very long one, for the bone problem to emerge.
I was on Dilantin for over 15 years but have been off since the early 1980's. I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis. Do you feel even though I have been off of this drug for over 30 years that Dilantin is the cause of the osteoporosis?
