Yes I have the same exact symptoms but it has only lasted 10 min and the most an hour. I do not panic as I know it will go away on its own. The first time it happen I was around 5 years old and I had a fever. It happened every time after that when I am sick or getting sick. Not sure what it is. My best advice is to not fight it and accept that it's part of you and your eyes' reaction to malaise.

I've experienced this, not a lot, but a number of times throughout my life. Can happen under extreme exhaustion. What I feel certain about is that it is a change in "consciousness". It's not visual, it's a change in state of consciousness. Like a waking dream state or something.

You are all referring to Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. I had it as a child, for me things seemed really large. .my son, 8, just started awaking in a panic with the 'too small, far away' complaint. If I didn't have this as a child, I'd have dismissed it as nightmares. From what I've read it's usually harmless. My son has had a virus for the past week, if his 'visions' don't go away when he is better, I will bring him to the Dr to rule out any serious causes. Years ago many Drs hadn't heard of this as there wasn't a name for it. Now, if you Google Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, I'm sure you'll find plenty of other people who are experiencing some of the same exact things. I hope this helps!

This happened to me very often exacly as you describe when i was about 6 and until my teen years then it went away for years and now that I'm 36 i sometimes get it specially at night. I remember waking up crying when I was a little kid but as a teenI I found it fascinating.

I first remember getting it at about 10 years of age. It only happened on rate occasion after I'd vomited. Once I'd cleaned myself up I'd go to lay down and ecerytging seemed so far away, I would start to panic and I told my mum but she just passed it off as nothing.

No, don't worry. It's just everything around seems tiny or massive, the reason I have it is because I wake up really early and probably go on my phone straight away. The reason people get this is because their brains are so tired out because of things such as: electronics all day, no sleep and way more. There is nothing wrong with your eye sight. Your brain needs at least 8 hours sleep and you cannot spend all day with electronics even if that's your favourite thing. I'm sorry but your brain is important. While you look at a electronic all day, the brain gets tired and it gets a vision of massive or tiny things. My mum always said: 'Darling, close your eyes and try not to think about anything.' It actually worked! So next time when you get this feeling, don't panic just close your eyes and calm down. Hope it helped :)

I am ten years old and I experience something similar when I have a stomach bug. It usually occurs while I'm sleeping. I can't sleep and everything at least a foot away looks to be a few yards away. Another symptom I have is anything that feels soft such as a pillow and blanket, etc. feels super hard. I have been wondering if it was just me, but am glad to have other people with similar symptoms.

I remember when I had a temperature as a kid, the far away feeling got worse and my fingers felt fat...like so much bigger than they actually were. It's just a change of perceptions of the brain and nothing to worry about :)

Thats really helpful to me I had these sensations as a child and was told by an aunt that I had seizures but my mother never took me to a doctor, everytime I had these episodes I would then feel or be sick, could you tell me if your daughter complains of feeling ir being sick after ?

I get this and figured out the quickest way to get rid of it is to put my hand really close to my face and focus on the lines on my hand. This strains my eyes and brings your vision back to normal. Trust me this works!

Hi! Yeah I have the same problem, It just happened so I looked to see if it had happened to anyone else. I'm only 13 and it started when I was like...11? It only happens when I read, or in bed, also I went to sleep super late last night.
It happens probably 20 times a year for me and it irritates me like crazy. It once happened at school before my presentation and I was freaking out, looking for solutions.
When it happens (in my room) I try to convince myself that my brain is tricking me and my perception is just a little different but I'm not sure of that. It usually helps if I look at my lamp and then my pillow. I have to look away when it doesn't work then try again. Also, it happened in my dream, and I woke up with it.... I think that's pretty weird so I wonder if my brain trick theory is right?

i dont know what it is, but i can sorta do that with my eyes i guess, i close one, look threw the other, and its like when a camera focuses on something close, and the back ground gets all blurry, then i go back to normal vision, and things closer are blurry and things far away are normal as usual, this normal?

I'm on the edge of it now.......it feels really weird. Like I know that I'm going to get it, and there is nothing I can do about it! I've had it when I was young, and it is coming back, and I hate it! Any ideas about what I can do???
