I've been having this syndrome since i was a child. I'm 33 years old now and i asure you that it will become less and less in time. The only solution for me was, don't look at an object for too long, try to look away every one or two minutes for few seconds ( while reading or having conversation with people )

Hi there.. I'm not sure when this was posted, but I am hoping you will respond back to me. My younger brother (15 years old) is currently suffering from exactly what you have just described. He has these "far away" feelings and almost seems like he is having a panic attack mostly at night or after he falls asleep. He hasn't been diagnosed with anything yet, although he has had 2 seizures when he was just a baby .. how did your daughter get diagnosed with these mild seizures? What tests did the doctors run to figure out her disorder and has there been anything prescribed etc to relieve these symptoms? I'm very worried about my brother.. He currently sees a specialist, but like I said they haven't diagnosed him with anything.

If you could contact me through email, that would be great . Just looking for more information on your daughters condition and hoping it could help me with my little brother.

Generally everybody experiences this a few times in their life, i have whenever i'm about to wake up from my sleep, i feel like i just suddenly float off my bed and  then everything looks far away or sometimes if i wake up unexpectedly everything looks far away. this can be due to being FAR too relaxed, have  you tried just getting up and walking about maybe doing some stretching exercises just to get your body gong a little?, it's possible you just get FAR too relaxed, also if your like me and you wake up after about 5 hours of sleep before going back to sleep try getting up, doing some stretches and wiggle your body around for 5 mins before going back to sleep, i like to do this because sleeping makes me super stiff and i get too warm... or so i feel because i get chillblains so my skin can't make heads or tails of temperatures, so i turn on my fan too for a couple mins  then just sit and let it blow on me before going back to sleep, seems to help me wake up a tiny bit more refreshed too.

I experience this same thing as well. It started happening after I had a panic attack while falling asleep one night. I thought I was dying, I'd never had one before and to be honest had always trivialized those who had. I have these moments now where my perception alters, things seem “off", far away, and if I look down at my hands it feels as though I'm disassociated from my own body. Like it's not my own somehow. It's accompanied by an overwhelming sense of dread, terror even. I think it's a panic disorder thing. Here are some things that help me.
Make judgement free observations (That pillow is red)
Ask yourself how likely your fear is to become reality.
Inhale as deep as you can through your nose while relaxing your shoulders. Hold 4 seconds, exhale slowly through your mouth.
Know that the fear of panic is what perpetuates this mental state, try to focus or stimulate your mind. Read, play video games, ect.

I have the same problem. Things get small and really far away but then gets close and huge. Happens when my eyes are open and closed. Happens every once in a while. I cannot sleep the whole night. I panic and try to run away from it. I cry and have difficulties breathing. Walking doesn't help and it lasts the whole night. The visions come out of no where, and there is no warning to when it is going to happen.

I have the exact same thing. I'm in bed right now and it stopped just a minute ago. It seems like all the objects in my room are tiny and far away even my hand when I stare at it. When I even close my eyes the blackness is tiny if you know what I mean and I can't sleep until my eyes go back to normal it scares me and I don't know what it is

I had the same thing happen to me when I was around 4 or 5 years old. I guess being that young, it didn't bother me as I thought it was normal. I have since found out that my big bro experienced the same thing.

I am now 57 years old and the Alice In Wonderland syndrome has come back. But it doesn't scare me at all. It's been a part of me since I was a child, it's just something that some of us have.
